Do you think Green Day is overrated?

I still like them, but I've liked them less and less ever since they came out with American Idiot. I like Insomniac and Dookie better. I like the album with the songs Waiting and Good Riddance on it (although I can't remember the album title at the moment). It had Minority in it as well.

But American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown don't do it for me. How about you?

I hated them before they became popular enough to be accused of selling out.

They are decent, but there are tons of better bands around.

I kind of got annoyed by Billie Joe singing every song the same, and them doing huge, grand ballads like some dolled up hair band. hillelslovak

Yes. They don't deserve to win Best Rock Album. Their music is simple, repetitive, and popish now. It's not punk, it's not rock ... it's not a good fusion either. There are literally hundreds of better bands than them, yet they are super popular.

most definately. you can only go so far singing what seems to be the same song over and over.

They're alright. They got some songs that I really like but not many to make me a fan.

Still like them though. I don't think they are overrated, not many people listen to them anymore where I live.

Not really there a good band IMO, if anything a bit underrated in OT considering not a lot of people seem to rate them in the first place. I don't see what's bad about their new stuff either, personally liked 21st century breakdown a lot more than dookie.

i like their old albums and i really liked american idiot but so much 21st century breakdown although know your enemy was extremely catchy

yeah they are a bit overrated. but i loved all of their old songs like when i come around. that was the best

Me and a friend went to a Green Day concert last year. Before that concert, I had quite a "meh" attitude towards them -- but I absolutely loved the show they put on and it made me like them all over again.

On this site they're totally UNDERrated. Obviously there are better bands then them, but that doesn't mean they suck. And I like their old stuff a lot more than the new stuff, but that's just personal taste. Listen to Jesus of Suburbia and then try saying they can't write good songs.

Further proof that overrated is overused... There is a difference between not liking something, and it being overrated. People seem to think overrated means it is held in a higher regard than their opinion of it.
