I still get suprised that I'm still learning on this board. I recently found out there are sublte differences the way you post in System Wars than you would OT even if the rules are the same. So, no I don't fully understand the TOU. Do you?

Did you just get moderated or something? I don't know. I think I've got the idea on how to avoid moderations. Don't feed trolls and don't eat spam. :P

I believe I have a grasp on it....
#6 Posted by PerfectCircles (2359 posts) -
I didn't really read all the TOU but I have some common sense, which allows me to avoid moderations.
#7 Posted by ariz3260 (4209 posts) -

No, not one lick of it.

#8 Posted by coolbeans90 (21305 posts) -

#9 Posted by SmittyPeppers (1569 posts) -

#12 Posted by HavocV3 (7934 posts) -

#15 Posted by solidruss (23628 posts) -

#16 Posted by Colin1192 (6221 posts) -

dont really know the specifics, but I get the gist of it

#17 Posted by Dark_Knight6 (16619 posts) -

It's too vague and elastic for anyone to properly memorize and abide by it.

#18 Posted by UT_Wrestler (16378 posts) -
I believe there are hidden rules that nobody knows about, because I often get moderated for rules that don't exist.

No way that would happen, we have a great Community Manager in Jody, if we abused our "power" it would be nipped in the bud real quick

Well, if it helps, I was recently informed that the moderators can moderate almost anything, with a penalty of their choice.

Most of it is common sense, so yes, I believe I somewhat know the ToU.

Not true at all

LikeHaterade

Nope, no recent moderation. But I like it here so I try to read the rules when I can.

#35 Posted by lamprey263 (22287 posts) -
I learn it as I violate it, sometimes read the Ask The Mods forum to see how other people get pinched, however one thing I don't quite understand about "distruptive postings" is the all cap rule, I mean I understand it's wrong to post like 1000 words all cap, but I've seen one guy get modded because the forum asked something like "do you prefer XBL or PSN" and the responder just said "XBL", and because that's all caps it's considered disruptive, sheesh
#36 Posted by solidruss (23628 posts) -

because that's all caps it's considered disruptivelamprey263

It's clearly stated to post in all caps then it's considered disruptive... knowing that why do it? Do it once you get a warning, do it again it gets worse, whats so hard to understand?

Doesn't matter if you agree or not, it's the rules, follow them or get moderated.

I learn from experience.

censor bypassing = bad. On topic, I know the TOU pretty well.

I just don't use profanity, seems to get me by.
#41 Posted by SeraphimGoddess (12958 posts) -
Yes. Do I like to actually follow it? Well, not as long as my mind likes to convert all my posts into something about sex.
#42 Posted by entropyecho (22053 posts) -

The only thing that confuses me a bit and has gotten me into trouble is the use of sarcasm (since it can be interpreted as trolling). I have had to make a lifestyle change of sorts since I am very sarcastic. After a while, you learn the psychodemographic of OT and consequently do not get riled up by certain comments or posts by "veteran" users; you know when they are doing something to have some innocent fun and using hyperbole. I can understand how that can't be tolerated though, since you may instill bad habits and send conflicting messages to new members. Other than that, the ToU are pretty straightforward (regardless of whether or not you agree with the rules).

#43 Posted by cheesyjon (45844 posts) -
I never actually read it, but I just learned through all the posting and stuff. I did read the newest update, though.
#44 Posted by Dystopian-X (8997 posts) -

Being boringly funny gets you modded. Asking exciting questions like "what did yew guise had for dinner last night!?" is OK!.

But seriously ofc until it gets to the point that a certain moderation:

It's too vague and elastic.

Dark_Knight6

But tbqh I'm a bit tired of all the whining regarding moderations lately. A thread is fine. Two threads are fine but when most threads are about banned ppl, the tou etc. It's like wtf man. |:

(disregard my last blog U_U)

This man speaks the truth, as he usually always does. People need to learn when enough is enough when it comes to complaining. It obviously isn't going to change anything at this point, and if anything it only makes you more angry.
#46 Posted by mitu123 (153911 posts) -

Nope, never heard of it.

#47 Posted by -Vulpix- (2375 posts) -

Been coming to the site for 5 years and haven't read the rules yet so should I read the TOU? How long is it?

#48 Posted by lightleggy (15831 posts) -
the extensive TOU can be summed up to dont post porn, or any "hot chick threads" dont tell us anything of your self pleasure rituals, dont piss off others...dont piss off others intentionally for fun...dont piss off the mods...dont create many stupid threads, dont put innapropiate content for kids
#49 Posted by mlbslugger86 (12866 posts) -

just wait, pretty soon that gift will be given to you. if your here long enough it might just happen:twisted:

#50 Posted by raynimrod (6856 posts) -

I know the ToU well enough to avoid moderation. Some of the rules are a bit convoluted, but that seems unlikely to change. It annoys me that many of them are written like legal contracts lol.
