It seems to be a trend for most action-oriented movies these days, and I'm starting to get rather annoyed by it. I probably would've enjoyed movies like the Transformers more if it wern't for that blasted camera. Agree/disagree?

You mean watching movies on the internet?

If you mean on a movie, then no, I've never seen a shaky camera.

It depends on the movie -- it works for some and it doesn't for others.

I know what you mean, where it start shaking around with the action gets intense. It doesnt really overly bother me. Now, stuff like Cloverfield is a bit bothersome, but I realize it was supposed to be that way. Just to much for me.

In some examples, such as Band of Brothers, a shaky camera adds to the effect.

Most movies, like the Bourne Conspiracy and such, do it well.

Others, such as Transformers, is just horrible.

I hate it when it's overused. However, when employed strategically or made a part of the movie (ala Paul Greengrass's stuff) then it can be effective.

I absolutely don't hate them, I like it when they try something new that works... I hardly notice that camera work is sloppy.

I really liked the camerawork in that movie. It gave the movie a punch that, quite literally, kicked my ass (really, my butt was sore at the end).

I agree, it was so well used. Greengrass tends to use it well... however, if it is something like Cloverfield it is just crap...

When I saw the Bourne Ultimatium in theatres, I couldn't help but look away from the screen at the beginning because the camera was so annoying and shaky. So I fell asleep the rest of the movie. eerrgghhh

It good when done tastefully. Such as only when there's a frantic, large-scale battle going on, but unless it's really well done there aren't many other situations that call for it. Overusage makes me sick too.

You're focussing on something that's moving a lot and you're not moving at all. In it's basic form it's sea-sickness.

As some mentioned, they're okay if done tastefully such as in the Bourne series. I also thought it was well placed in The Kingdom. I also watched Hancock yesterday, and I think they had a bit of the shaky cameras too... that, or I was falling asleep.

I thought Ultimatum's shaky cam overdid it in my opinion. I think the best use of a shaky cam was in Children of Men. It wasn't really all that shaky, but it was perfectly done.

Cloverfield? By far the worst is in the second Bourne movie, the Bourne Supremacy. It was so bad, I refused to see Ultimatum because of it. Too bad, because I loved the first movie, Bourne Identity.

Depends on how its used. It wasn't bothersome in Cloverfield, and it was alright in Bourne Ultimatum, but I absolutely HATED the shaky camera work in Transformers and Batman Begins.

I dislike it... the one exception is Bourne though, because it makes it better (in my opinion). Although I didn't notice it in Transformers.

No, I don't. I find it irritating somewhat. In the Bourne Ultimatum it was fairly bothersome at first, and I know in Cloverfield it was supposed to be that way (even though the movie sucked), it just never felt right.

I thought the camera work in Cloverfield was interesting (even though the movie was so-so). However, I somewhat dislike a shaky camera that makes the action more difficult to see in a movie that uses static camera images during the dialogue.
