Poll: Do you consider Girls who dress like this as "Trashy" or "Asking For It"? (49 votes)

Yes, that's very revealing. No respected Girl who doesn't want attention should wear that 37%
Not at all. unless she purposely acts in a way she wants it, there's no need to judge 63%

Let's see what people think

It's eye candy, I prefer to not judge peoples' character on what they're wearing at any particular moment, and people who actually think that revealing clothes invites/encourages sexual harassment and rape are ignorant morons.

How can it not encourage rape?? It doesn't justify it even a little but though.

Sorry, you're going to have to show how it does considering that it's an outrageous viewpoint that doesn't have any proof.

I simply used simple reasoning and logic; There is probably a correlation between rape and sexual arousal. People probably rape less when they're not sexually aroused. Some clothes create more sexual arousal than others.

Now where is your proof that people who think that revealing clothes invites/encourages sexual harassment and rape are ignorant morons.

Your argument isn't really "proof" and it's literally too simple. You're focusing on only one (relatively small) factor and ignoring other ones, like how women wearing concealing clothing are perceived by rapists as being more submissive and therefore better targets.

And even if you were right and there was a positive correlation, which you haven't actually shown, that doesn't mean that skimpy clothing "encourages" rape. Go look at the definition of encourage, it's not "increase probability".

It's pretty obvious how people have to be ignorant/stupid to have that kind of mindset. They have to be ignorant of the fact that "attractive dresses" are only found in something like 4% of rapes. This tiny percentage makes a huge amount of sense when you consider that rape is generally motivated by power, is mostly pre-planned and rarely takes place outdoors.

They have to be stupid enough to think that rape can be "invited" as though it's some kind of motive or intent that women in skimpy clothes have, and also moronic enough to think that that's an acceptable way to respond to someone on the basis of their clothes.

Asking for it, absolutely not. No woman goes outside looking to get forced to have sex with someone she doesn't want to have sex with. To think otherwise is ridiculous. If men are so unable to control themselves that exposed skin triggers them to rape somebody, I think that's more of a problem with the man than with the woman.

Do I think it looks trashy? Yes. Having your butt hanging out the bottom of your belt-sized skirt is not a good look whether you have a nice body or whether you're Mama June.

"If men are so unable to control themselves that exposed skin triggers them to rape somebody, I think that's more of a problem with the man than with the woman."

I don't think anyone is arguing that.

- Guys want sex

- girls want sex

- guys and other women shame girls about sex

- girls hesitate to have sex. Don't want the shame.

- everyone loses

Stop shaming women about wanting sex. We will all benefit in the end.

Obviously they want it based on the way they dress. Otherwise, why else would they dress like that? Still, I don't mind it, I like it actually. It's really the same for us guys too when we try to wear nice clothing. We want them to notice us.

No one should be judged for the way they dress. It's sexist to say that they're "asking for it".

"Asking for it"? There is no such thing. That is backward thinking.

I like the view and no they should not be raped because they wear this type of clothes.

#62 Posted by Kats_RK (2080 posts) -

Obviously not, everyone can wear whatever they want.

They look cheap but I wouldn't say they are asking for it.

Girls who dress like that are looking for a man like me to satisfy them

I still think TC needs to clarify the term "asking for it". Obviously, no woman, no matter how she is dressed, is "asking" to be raped or sexually assaulted. I suppose some might be... there are some seriously freaky people out there, but certainly not many, or even a statistically relevant amount. But are they asking to be noticed, to be found as attractive, and possibly approached and talked to by people who find them attractive? I think that's a pretty obvious yes.

"Asking for it" as in rape? no, of course not.

but I do consider them to be attention seeking sluts.

Why not?

If I see someone walking around in a torn up t-shirt covered in stains, I'm going to assume he/she is a slob.

If I see someone in a very nice suit, I'm going to assume he/she is successful.

If I see a girl wearing a see-through shirt and a mini skirt that doesn't cover half of her ass, I'm going to assume she's a slut.

What's the problem with that?

Their gain (or loss).

I love to look at them, but I wouldn't date a girl who dressed like that. She would be one night stand material or a "when I can't get it someplace else" girl. I would never try to have a serious relationship with a girl that dressed that way.
