Wondering.
I don't get the Top Gear love at all. It's like a really bad sketch show with a bigoted 50 year old man and his clones punctuated by a montage of cars driving around Iceland.
Stuart Lee summed it up masterfully.
@jun_aka_pekto: Who doesn't love good ol' Mr, Bean?
My wife was the one who got me watching Mr. Bean. I would guess Mr. Bean found its way to Philippine TV before it was televised the US.
Between Mr. Bean and Al Bundy (Married With Children), the 90's were great for comedy.
@uninspiredcup: When it takes 15 minutes to make fun of a single show I guess they're doing well for themselves.

At least Jeremy Clarkson didn't punch him for not making steak and chips.
The Thick of It is fucking fantastic. And I like some of the classics like Father Ted, Blackadder, and Only Fools and Horses.
Not really...maybe a bit of Top Gear and I've watched a few episode of Penny Dreadful (I think it's a co-produced US/UK show). Mr. Bean movies are great, though. I also enjoyed the old Monty Python movies. Overall I think US television is better, even the stuff US studios copy like The Office which I have seen a couple UK versions of the show as well.
Vicious - funny comedy with Jacobi and McClellan. I hope they do a second year.
Downton Abbey - it's addicting.
Death in Paradise
Being Human - I prefer the Brit version to the American one.
Dr. Who - but I haven't watched it since Tennant left.
When I was young, I loved The Avengers with Steed and Mrs. Peel. Also Secret Agent Man
@uninspiredcup:
Downton Abbey
Dr. Who (since Eccleston, didn't really watch the original series)
Being Human
Misfits
Hunted
Orphan Black (although that's BBC America so I don't know if that counts)
Dracula (same caveat)
Sherlock
IT Crowd
Episodes
Torchwood
Black Books
Life of Mars
Ashes to Ashes
Hustle
Black Mirror
Man/Woman
Big Train
Bedlam
Endeavour
Fresh Meat
Fawlty Towers
Him & Her
The Hour
An Idiot Abroad
Intruders
Lovejoy
Man/Woman
Mumbai Calling
The Mitchell and Webb Look/Feel/whatever
Peep Show
Red Dwarf
Psychoville
Vexed
Utopia
The Young Ones
Spy
Primeval (but I quit because it got stupid fast)
Outcasts
Survivors
Chalk
Spaced
Plus some of the really good mini series (there may be overlap here):
Hidden
Neverwhere
The Shadow Line
Garth Marengi's Dark Place
Man to Man with Dean Learner
The Last Train
There's a lot of good stuff.

@Byshop: If you enjoy watching David Mitchell you probably should give "Would I Lie To You?" a try =)
@korvus: I'll check it out. I also have The Magicians but I haven't gotten around to it. Peep Show is one of my favorite shows, even though it's social akward-type humor which I usually don't like.
It's funny, because I was talking to a guy from the UK and the topic of TV came up. I asked him what are some good shows to check out and he asked me what I liked. This was years ago, so I don't clearly remember what all my answers were but shows like Hustle, maybe Life on Mars, maybe Spooks (aka MI6) and a few others I mentioned. He chuckled a bit because he said that the shows I named were actually shows that are kind of regarded as "like American" shows with their high drama or action content, so he thought it was funny that I (an American) zeroed in on those.

@Byshop: Would I Lie To You? is a bit different from the rest. It's a comedy show where they have 2 teams (the team captains are David Mitchell and Lee Mack, both very funny) and invite known British people to come tell stories of their life and the other team has to guess if it's truth or a lie. Of course they come up with these really intricate lies that sound true and these very weird truths that sound fake. Then you have Mitchell going on his tirades with Mack and it's quite hilarious. It's one of my go-to shows when I need a laugh...and probably one of the very few shows where I actually laugh instead of a "that was slightly amusing" smile,
When it comes to TV the US cant make British TV series and British cant make US shows. Look at Life on Mars. They took it literally.
last one I really liked was Peep Show, blew through 8 six episode series in no time, they had it on Netflix
Have no use for bbc America after top gear was yanked. The trio had great chemistry. It was one of those programs that come around maybe once every 20 years, and that sniveling little coward producer blew it.

I don't if you have been following, but Jeremy Clarkson had multiple warnings and punches some poor sod, for not getting steak and chips.
If that show didn't have the crowd and money bags behind it, he would have been let go long ago.

American The Office is better than the British version.

I'm pretty sure most people (including critics) disagree with that.

According to IMDb The Office (US) has a a higher score than the British one. And the British show got cancelled precisely because it got low ratings from critics and viewers alike at the time. The show might be well-liked now but at the time it certainly wasn't.

The UK version is almost a decade old finished. Most of the IMDB userbase in their 20's.
