So I recently got this job at BestBuy warehouse which I love, it's easy and fun and pays way more than fast food. I also should be going to college this september but the test results will be issued on aug 30 and it will determine whether I will actually get in or not.

The thing is I am not sure if they will allow me to work only on weekends. Should I ask my suvervisor now or should I wait till my test results because if I dont pass the test, then I will just keep working full-time. But if I ask, they might say like they cant do anything about it and that either I work all shifts or I will get fired.

Also I am wondering if people here had some experience like when they quit or got fired but then they got the job back after a while. Because if I have to quit the job now, I wonder if I will be able to get it back later (who knows maybe I might have to leave college in the middle of studies for some reason).

Go for college, there are a ton of jobs out there you'll get another one. Especially with a college degree.

Personally, I would appraise my supervisor of the situation and ask if there was anyway to work while in college. Your supervisor might appreciate your candor and try to work something out.

This. But definitely go to college. You'll be so grateful for it later in life.

Go to college, if you want you can always go back to work at a warehouse, but at least you'll have other options you wouldn't have if you didn't go to college.

College. After college you can get a job that pays at least twice, three, or even four times what you're getting payed with your current job.

If you've done a good job, your managers should understand and would most likely at least hire you back next summer. Unless you desperately need money for college, it should always come first, as much as it sucks. I'm currently in a summer job at the government that I have to leave on Monday and I'll hate leaving, but I know that once I finish University and come back, my pay will skyrocket because of one stupid little piece of paper.

Inform your supervisor that you might need to request a change in your working schedule in the near future. The longer notice they have the higher the chance they will be able to help you out.

If you get into college and they cant help you schedule wise make sure you give a 2 week notice. As long as you give a notice and work that duration they cant refuse you a job later on based on you quitting. Thats not to say they will have openings but cover this base anyway.

If you dont get into college inform your supervisor that you will not currently be needing a schedule change. Just continue to work as normal while looking at other school options.

Not always true. I know a lot of people who have degrees with no job at all. You have to start somewhere just like everybody else.

That said, go to college. A good education never hurt anybody.

This, but if your manger does not agree got to your college, they can get you jobs that work with your school schedule.

I'm telling you go to school. In end it pays offs tremendously. I think personally that if you gotta ditch best buy to find another job that works around your school schedule than you gotta do it. An education is everything.

Any good employer will support their employees trying to better themselves by getting an education. Your manager should understand, if not, it's not worth dedicating yourself to them long-term. My employer put me in a new position that allowed me to take nighttime classes, and pretty much worked around my needs. I'm sure they're not the only ones willing to do that.

I had a similar challenge, I was in sales making nearly 40k per year and after talking with my counselor a business management degree wouldn't make a huge difference. I regret quitting from time to time, but it's never cost me a job.

Most jobs are pretty flexible when it comes to furthering your education.

Ever since I have been in college, I have also been working full-time.

You could continue working and if you get into college defer your application for a year so you can save up some money so you don't struggle financially through college, honestly there's no rush, save up some money and go to college later.
