He does realise that the definition of being gay is larger than "people who have sex with others of the same gender", right?

In Prison I imagine being gay would be a tool; in that regard, I imagine it is choice, or even a matter of survival.

That doesn't mean people aren't born inherently gay though or if it is used as a means to get along, they themselfs are actually gay. They may simply perceive it as a necessity of the situation.

Being gay doesn't mean having sex with the same sex, so there is no such thing as prison gay.

Men do create emotional and sexual bonds over time, men who once had families and children. Wither this is inherent (as in they were gay) from the beginning or not, I have no idea: but it does happen.

Individuals tend to limit sexual orientation to sexual partners, when just like some have stated above there is definitely more to it than that. As a bisexual, I have been intimate with both males and females, but I would never say that I am heterosexual or homosexual. I am able to "love" with my heart and with all the necessary emotions both males and females. Similarly, those straight and gay individuals are such because of their ability to love the gender they do. Now did I "choose" to like both sexes...I can honestly say I didn't. At least, that is my personal opinion. ;)

Morons like this baffle me. Not just with the ignorance of his comment - but the fact that he actually thought this was a smart thing to say when considering to run for President.

Do these convicts continue to be "gay" after their release from incarceration? I thought it was pretty obvious that prisoners engage in homosexual sex because, well, heterosexual sex isn't an option for them.

Well I do think you can choose to be gay. Why couldn't you? The human mind is adjustable. Doesn't mean it can also be something you're born with. And yes I'm sure in prison just, like that other poster said, the prisoners eventually can become attracted to each other.

I think it's pretty safe to say this thread will only become less and less productive... if it were productive from the very start.
