Can a guy just be friends with a girl ?

Not without a lot of alcohol.

Mutual companionship can be called "just friendship" if that is all it is, but friendship is much more than simply not being mates.

@UltimoIce: Yeah, like I said in my first post, situations like that are bound to happen, especially if you're a guy...a lot of girls have the firm belief that guys are ALWAYS interested in all females so to a lot of them, especially if they're good looking, you're just playing hard to get...others take it a step farther and proclaim that you're into them, you just don't know it yet. Girls of that last type (and I assume guys as well, but I've had more girls into me than guys) are REALLY hard to deal with...

What if I told you I do and they like to do exactly what I said? Maybe your friends with all the manly chicks. Sounds like an interesting crowd.

Only if they're ugly, or a co-worker you don't want awkward moments with.

oh man the women that ask you out and you turn them down then they think youre gay, those are the ones that get me, like im automatically suppose to say yes to them just because they are a girl and i am a single guy.

Or maybe people don't always fall into simple stereotypes.

You're either gay or you're not interested, which in the oversimplifying way they have has to mean they're not attractive...so the answer is easy...you're gay.

Sure. It's more likely to be fraught with "non-friend" feelings because, you know, biology, but it's not doomed to be something more. And having close friends from both genders seems quite natural from where I am sitting.

Yup, my best friend is a woman and we're practically siblings because of how close we are.
