I still do not get why horses cannot be eaten or sold in supermarkets.

I think it's not so much that it can't be sold in supermarkets. I think it's more like, there's no reason for supermarkets to have it since no one is ever going to buy it. I mean, ostrich is legal. I've even driven by ostrich farms. Yet, I've never seen it stocked in a supermarket, because who the hell actually eats ostrich?
