Has anyone ever takenBJJ classes? There is a place that teaches BJJ and I'm thinking about joining. Reason is that I find it interesting, and it would keep be active and in shape, etc. Or should I not try it since I'm 21 and that might be too old.

I think TC should practice that on me. I've been told I'm a good teacher after I wake up.

But really, how much difference is there between Brazilian jiu jitsu and the thing that people were thinking of? I would propose that there is, in fact, very little:

I say go for it! I signed up for a Kendo class because I wanted to try a martial art, but I really wish I would've tried something hand-to-hand. I'll be looking for a BJJ class near me now, seems like a martial art that's actually...I don't know, useful in this century? Haha.

Go try it out. Most places will let you try a class for free. I don't practice Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in particular, but I do train in Danzan Ryu Jiu-Jitsu and Judo, both of which are highly relate-able to BJJ because of their shared lineage. I started at 20, it's pretty much never too late. It can be a pretty rigorous workout so be prepared, and also there's always the risk of injury.

Waste of time, its a useless martial art better of doing a useful one like Ninjustu, Kung fu etc.

You should go for it. I took 2 semesters worth of BJJ with a little bit of Judo in my freshman year of college. It's pretty fun and you could learn alot.

I'm not really a fan of ground grappling, but I started martial arts at 21, and I know people who didn't start until their 50's. You are not anywhere close to being too old.

My brother took a BJJ class with the Gracies when he was around 25 or older. There were plenty og people his age and older. Do it.
