There are so many damn WW2 movies that it is hard for them to stand out. That era has so much history though that I doubt they will ever stop making WW2 movies.

1. Cross of iron

2. The Big Red One

3. Downfall

4. The Thin red line

5. Letters from Iwo Jima

6. Das boot

7. The Winter war

8. The Hill

9. Bridge on the river kwai

10. Schindler's list

Band of Brothers is awesome. I heard that newer series, "The Pacific," is good too, although I have yet to see it.

Back to Bataan is pretty good. It shows the resistance fighters of the Philippines and some of their heroic acts.

I liked Enemy at the gates, but I really didnt like the love story. It seemed really forced and I think the film would have been better without it.

I never really liked Saving Private Ryan all that much for some reason. Sure the action scenes, acting and music were good it's just I didn't like the story to much I guess. Downfall, Schindler's list, and the Pianist are my favorite World war 2 films,

Band of Brothers is awesome. I heard that newer series, "The Pacific," is good too, although I have yet to see it.

IMO, entertainment-wise, BoB is better, but depth-wise, The Pacific, especialyl with ep 9, destroys BoB. And it's very entertaining too (just not as BoB) Anyway, my first is definitely Der Untergang. Absolutely amazing. EDIT: if Schindler's List count, than that takes the spot. But I really don't consider that a WW2 film...

I think Schindler's lists being a WWII film is debatable. Sure it takes place during WWII, but the Holocaust wasn't an act of war.
