So ive got a few mates round tonight and recently got my surround sound all sorted, and was wondering what are some good scary films.
They dont really have to be gorey or anything, but id like them to be real jumpy and can give you a goodscare :P
Also, what scary films take advantage of surround sound, ie movement behind you etc.
Thanks :D

Jacob's Ladder. One of the films that inspired the makers of Silent Hill. Great classic horror film.
Also, rent the japanese versions of The Grudge (Ju-On) and the Ring (Ringu). I found them to be much scarier than the American versions.

MEH. I say Saw. It's not that scary, but I really can't think of any movie that really gives me a jolt.

The horror genre is my fav:

  • The Grudge (both movies)
  • Texas Chainsaw Massacre (remake)
  • The Ring
  • Mirrors
  • Dawn of the Dead (2004 remake)
  • 1408
  • Dead Silence

Anything but 'The Wickerman'. 'Event Horizon' should be good on surround sound, but maybe films arn't as scary as they used to be...

I can't say, all I know is Grudge made me laugh not scared :? Also, I haven't seen a scary movie in a long time. Most of the scary movies I've seen are about people dying in really gruesome ways and I consider that creepy more than scary.

Oh yes, I'll remember the bathroom scence in Mirrors for a long time.

And you're right. The Nightmare on Elm Street movies are still good for a scare or two.

I'd also recommend the new Friday the 13th for a few jumps. Solid movie

Mmm, I agree with 'Event Horizon'. I don't know why, but it was an entertaining film. "Ju-On: The Grudge" and "The Shining" are also great, as is "The Descent".
