there is no best... i would say FL for beginners, the learning curve is quick to get something down and it offers everything that Protools, Cubase, Sonar & Reason can accomplish sequencing wise... provided if you spent time to know the ins and outs of the program. just dont use its stock sounds, find yourself some samples and external plugins for your sound libary

depends on what you're trying to do

FL studio is good for most people if you're trying to do electronic music.

I use Sonar 8 Producer in my 64 bit DAW. I used to use Cubase 3 with WinXP Pro 32 bit.

I think that the new Sonar offers a lot more for the 64 bit world vs the new Cubase so that's why I went with it.

FL Studio is too complicated for me, and there's no real tutorial for it. So, I use Mixcraft 4. I also use audacity.

I have used FL, Protools, Cubase, Logic and countless others, but nothing comes close to Ableton Live. It fits my style of recording and live performance perfectly.

Madtracker: it's free to use until you want to turn them your creation into wav or mp3.

Ditto! It's a lot to take in at first, but the tutorials are very helpful and I was in my comfort zone in mere days :)

I dont' use any but don't see Pro Tools mentioned. I think a lot of artists use it.
