I personally found Return of the KIng to be the best, espcially as it was the most action packed and had the best climax. What about you? The same can go for the books if you want.

To my view it is impossible to seperate any one from the whole (both in regards to the book and the film).

I've always been most fond of The Two Towers. Honestly though, all three are so excellent that it is difficult to distinguish them in terms of quality.

The Two Towers was my personal favorite, but it's really a tough call to choose a favorite since they were all so spectacular. :)

My favorite is Two towers (for tree power)

Though I can say Return of the King seems more of a better made movie.(so the best)

Fellowship was my favorite.. I also liked The Two Towers.. I did not like Return of the King.. Not only did it have some painful moments (such as when the lady said and stabbed the leader of the Nazgul) but I didn't care about the numerous huge cgi battles any more.. Two Towers was enough.. It was a good climax to the movie.. The last one just went over the top, not to mention it was the most predictable in the sense of a storyline compared to the other two...

I like The Two Towers the best I think, or at least it is the one I've seen the most times.

I should really sit down and watch all 3 of my extended editions this weekend on my new couch. Break it in, you know.

exactly it is one story interwoven, however if I had to pick a specific movie I like best I would pick Return of the King Extended edition. But all the movies were phenomenal.

I'd have to fall into this category as well. Watching the people hold down the fort was exciting, but asking to separate a piece from the whole is difficult.

I've never watched all of them together. Although that 11 hours would be an epic way to spend you day on your new couch.

The Fellowship of the Ring.

It had better pacing than the other two (especially The Return of the King); it took its time.

Also, scenes like the Prologue and the Bridge of Khazad-Dum (Gandalf vs Balrog) make it stand out for me.

Bridge of Khazad-Dum is probably my favorite scene in the entire series.
