Oh god no

Anyways, inb4 someone says "America" just because their food is an amalgamation of other people's food.

I'd say Italians have it best.

Well yeah, the various Middle East peoples have a rich history of claiming Lebanese food as their own. At least in Jordan anyway.

I don't think there is a single "best", lots of great ones.

I'm partial to American Southwestern BBQ myself. Some of it is to absolutly die for. I also enjoy a lot of Asian dishes, specifically Southeast Asia.

Well all that food was made in the Levant before Lebanon was even a state, so whose to say whether it was Palestinian or Syrian or Lebanese? I will say however, that the food currently in Lebanon is the best in the Middle East.

Do you mean southeastern? The southwest is more known for grilling rather than BBQ.

Yeah I tried to keep it vague since the modern state lines are pretty much arbitrary. Moroccan food is pretty good too but I constantly had this hummus fix I could sate there.

Well the US has the advantage of piling all of the differnet world's food together. There great dishes from all over the world served here.

It's the same with beer. We get all of the different styles of beer in large numbers. Craft beer that is. Not our large scale beers.

Speaking of Moroccan food, have you tried b'stilla? It's quite lovely, and it's my favorite Moroccan dish by far.

Don't remind me, that stuff is amazing. Even in Morocco I had a hard time finding good b'stilla, that probably has more to do with me being cheap though.

To be fair, the best dish is Chana Masala. Some of the others (from India) might not rank with it.

In terms of authentic no tourist bs food?

1) Vietnamese: Has to be the overall best food, well seasoned, and while I was there, I kept getting surprised at how much they allowed for each ingredient to taste off, and play with the other flavours but never get drowned out. Helps that I really like seafood ;)

2) Nordic: (specifically Novegian and Danish automn food) those heavy thick sauces with mushrooms, and the fresh cought venison. Despite me being Danish, I do not like a whole lot of the food up here, but the above is some of the best food I can get period. There are ofcourse other kinds of foods they do well.

3) Japanese: surprised me, I had an odd notion that the Japanese kitchen would somehow be bland, very fish and synthetic heavy, but I ended up really liking alot of what I got my hands on, despite how it often sounded "wrong" to mix flavours like they tended to do. Not as good as the Vietnamese kitchen but darn close.

4) Turkish: okay we know that Turkey is a bit of an odd one, its pretty much where the middle east meets the west, and it is hard to find real Turkish food as a tourist, the resturents tend to try to please westeners or middle easterns, a shame since the native food is so impressive yet underrated.

5) Italian: while Italy is behind both Vietnam and Japan in seafood, they hold thier own, and while not as good with mammals as the Nordic countries, it is almost a Crime NOT to get Lamb in Italy, they have really good squid, and altho stereotypical they really DO make a mean pasta ;)

6)USA: Okay I admit it, this is a bit strange, because the US is not really known for its own great food, however the best pies, donoughts, and Barbecues Ive ever gotten, was been when the family from the US comes by and throw the near archtypical barbecue. I am not sure if what I consider barbecue, or the Pies are really american, but I Identify it as American, so I give that to the US, best Pies Ive gotten ^^ and best BBQ Ive been lured into ^^
