The lower class are certainly the problem when it comes to equitable distrobution and taxing. Better to take more from them and give to the top 1%.

The upper class pays 40% of the income how is that way to little? (That's only federal taxes not state and property taxes).

it's pretty simple really: i pay too much, everyone else pays too little

this is a true statement for anyone on earth

At the very least I would say no group should be paying more than they are now.

a lot of problems in this country are going unsolved while the income gap is too great. I say kill two birds with one stone.

You will never convince the liberal socialists that the rich are funding the country as it is. Ask these tools when the last time a poor man gave them a job was. This president has pushed class warfare unlike any in this nation's history. Class divide and racial divide both. THE most divisive president in the history of this country.....and that includes the dude who was president during the civil war, holy shit.

You will never hear a socialist liberal say "spend less" unless it involves the military.

The most hilarious thing about this all is out of the top 10 richest members of congress SEVEN of them are Democrats! But all you hear is how the GOP is a bunch of "rich white men." No worries socialist libtards....I am sure your down to Earth party will let you eat cake!

This "fair tax" bullshit needs to end as it completely ignores the function & purpose of taxation while creating spectacularly pointless arguments about morality that end with each income group getting more pissed off at the others for no real reason.

actually the u.s. is pretty economically conservative among developed nations. Sweden has tax rates at like 70%.

They also have the happiest people.

The USA has some of the lowest tax rates in the first world, and they complain the most about taxes...

You are naive if you think they pay the full 40%.

@Aljosa23:

No, they pay based on the bracket they are able to lower while maintaining their life style. Meaning, their bracket is very high just look at the house they live in. Their property tax for one of the houses they own will easily be several times of your annual salary. In able to pay for such property tax, they still need to have certain amount of income, which is drastically higher than you expect.

Fifty percent of the people in this country don't pay taxes. That being said the other fifty percent pays all of the taxes and the wealthiest among them pay seventy percent of all taxes. Everyone needs to pay taxes. There are many in this country that don't want to work they want the rest of us to take care of them and as that number increases we will soon reach a point where the whole system collapses.

Some may not because of loopholes but the federal government taxes them 40% of their paycheck. They get some of that back eventually at tax time yes. This is a loophole problem not a tax problem. Beside they already fund 70% of the government even if we take into account the loopholes. Everyone should be grateful that the rich are keeping this country afloat.
