Never watched cricket but this year I might just because you're interested. Since neither Portugal or the Netherlands is part of it I'm rooting for India as well.

Cricket is like watching baseball, except I have no idea what is going on. Loved playing baseball (played until my freshman year in college), but I do not have the patience/attention required to watch.

I work with a Pakistani and I oversee a group of 6 programmers in Hyderabad, India. They've tried explaining the game but I feel like I was even further away from understanding when they were finished.

Lol, cricket.

It's one of those sports I want to appreciate (it seems rather sophisticated), but I have no idea what the **** is going on when I try to watch.

I work with some programmers in Hyderabad and I was very shocked when one of them told me he played baseball when he was younger.

Two batmen play at once. If they hit the ball and manage to switch ends, that's 1 run. 4 if they hit the boundary. 6 if the ball crosses the boundary without bouncing. If 10 batmen are out, the innings is finished.

The score format is usually runs and batmen out so... 250/6 means 250 runs and 6 batmen out.

The rest isn't essential.

It can be two runs or three runs or more ( But dosen't usually happen over 2 runs ), unless they get run out.

Rest pretty much on the spot.

I do. Haven't been watching the World Cup though. Prefer test cricket... perhaps because England don't suck at that.

Absolutely watching the World Cup! Might even go to a game (when it's in Sydney). Obviously the Aussies are going to win! :)

But I think New Zealand and India will be our biggest rivals.

Nope. I'm not much of a baseball fan either. The sports I watch a lot are the sports I usually played a lot: soccer, football, basketball.

Every year you make this topic indz and you get the same jeering responses. Who cares about cricket other than India, Pakistan and the remnant of colonizing/aristocratic UK.

I don't watch it on TV. But, if someone bought me a ticket to watch it live, I'd go. The friend who I'm with would at least fill me in so I know when to cheer the team. He He.

I kinda miss the days when I used to watch AFL, rugby, and cricket (at least it gave me something to look forward to on TV).

Haven't watched sports in years and have no idea who's even in the current aussie lineup.

So in response to the thread, I guess that would be a no.
