I used to be a gamer. Was hardcore back in my teenage years then became a casual gamer during my college years. Now I only play CSS and some Android games.
Yeah, i noticed as one passes college gaming kinda declines. gaming is at ones peak during school and college :)

Man I remember gaming during my childhood and teenage years. I remember the excitement and exhilaration of powering my NES. I remember how I followed the Legacy of Kain series like a cult and I remember the first time I was introduced to online gaming by Halo and StarCraft. Good times!

HaHa yeah, i started with GTA , played earlier series countless times to point of complete addiction lol. Now i just play whichever games fancies my attention ,but not countless times anymore.Old times were good times indeed =P
I've gotten seven new games in the past month so I'd say yes. :P
The thing is with work and all I don't have much time to play any of them... sigh.
I bought Halo 3, GTA 4 and Splinter Cell Double Agent (XBOX) 2 months ago...haven't play them. Still working on finishing GTA 3 100%. By time as a gamer are coming to an end I reckon.
I like to game when I have the time, which isn't that much now that I'm in college. When I was younger, I'd game all the time. Now though, I don't have as much spare time and income, and if I do, I prefer to spend it in other ways. When I come home for breaks or something, I still do play some.
Casual gamer. I used to be hardcore during high school because i had lots of time. Now i play a few times a week.
I suppose I'm casual.
Don't really play much, other than the occasional shooter or fighting game nowadays. I have a hard time finding motivation to get into/finishing more lengthy games like RPGs, story driven games and such. Just don't have the patience like I did when I was younger.
I am currently not a video gamer, as I need to wait for the right time to purchase the PlayStation 4 and start fresh. I am trying to make this the first video game generation I have been in, where I can actually collect a decent amount of video games and build an actual collection of video games that I plan to keep and stick with. In the past video game generations I was unable to do this, because I was extremely limited as a kid as to what I could have and as a teenager I did not make the best choices with money or did not have enough money for much, despite saving a lot. This will probably be the first video game generation, where I can actually consider myself a video gamer.
I had poor experiences with the PlayStation 2 because I was never able to get mine fixed because of my parents, so I had to use it as a PlayStation and I missed out on many Japanese exclusives for the PlayStation 2 either due to money, poor planning, or trying to collect the video games too late and not having an easy way to be able to play them, due to region locking. I had a PlayStation 3, but I mad poor choices with it throughout the entire time I had it. The problem with the PlayStation 3 is that I focused too much on PlayStation Home, instead of actually having a dedicated collection of video games and collecting trophies, so I ended up losing most of my money in different ways including PlayStation Home and had no money to do much with the PlayStation 3 by 2011; I was broke and had no job to fall-back on, so I ended up with a paper weight I could not do much with.
I played alot less these days.. non of the games really wow me anymore, but Im not quiting just gonna play less.
Hardcore to the max. This past weekend, I spent about eighteen hours playing BF4 on my PS4 and earning Trophies. Yesterday, I spent about ten hours doing so, and only need two more to earn the Platinum Trophy. After that, I'm going to put my efforts into Killzone Shadowfall.
I still play games sometimes, but it's happening less often. These days when I play games, a lot of enjoyment is usually diminished by the notion that I could be using my leisure time in a more productive manner. There's a really good chance that by the end of 2014 I'll be done playing video games for good.
I'm a gamer....yes. But I don't always have the time but I'm not casual either. So I can't pick an option in the poll.
Seriously I think the terms hardcore and casual are silly....one either games or doesn't. Period.
I game a lot, but I'm not particularly good at any of them. If I play against AI I do well, but if I play against another person I get creamed so I guess I'm casual?
A couple years ago I was at least a frequent gamer if not a hardcore gamer. Now I'm in college and it seems that days, and sometimes weeks will pass where I don't play any games. I do still think of myself as a gamer though, and I try to keep relatively up to date on gaming news and releases. I am probably casual or below now though.
I play video games quite often (although that's more to do with joblessness at the moment than actual free-time choice), but I wouldn't call myself a hardcore gamer. Sure, sometimes I get really into some of them, like the Elder Scrolls games or Mass Effect, but I play what I find enjoyable and hold no bias towards any system, game, or company. If you make a game I enjoy, I'll buy it and play it.
most definitely a core-gamer. when i have the time.
the nature of my work has me spending most of my time in the Saudi desert, so i've gotten used to playing my mobile gaming devices like 3DS, Vita, and Ipad.
but again, only when i have the free time which is maybe 3-4 hours a day before i have to go to sleep for the next day.
i've been on vacation and my downtime has been me powering through several games i've been wanting to play through.
I play a lot of games but I don't play nearly as much as I used to. I have been gaming since the mid-80s. I have dozens of games and I am currently working on several Final Fantasy games. I have every major system released since 2005 so I have a lot of catching up to do.
I suppose I'm casual.

yeah, this
I've been gaming at home since the early 80's. I still game now although I prefer flight sims and FPS games on the PC (by far) plus the occasional exclusive and sports games on consoles.
I am a basement dweller.
No friends,no social life i just sit at home and play games all day long every day.
I play games but refuse to label myself as a "gamer".
I play a large amount of games but I refuse to label myself as a gamer.

...because if you play games, let alone a "large amount" of games, then you are a gamer. It's pretty simple, really.

I also play board games, does that mean I'm part of some kind of board game community?

I didn't say you were part of any community. I just said you were a gamer, as you play video games. Being a gamer doesn't automatically make you a member of a community, buddy.
