Are we to believe the Mayan Calandar when it said that the world is going to end on December 21, 2012? What are your thoughts about it?

The Mayan Calendar doesn't end. December 21, 2012 is simply the start of the next Baktun. The present one began on September 18, 1618. I don't recall the world ending in the early 17th Century, do you?

I don't really care to be honest.

I'm trying to live my life, I don't want to think about how the world will end.

Well, first of all, their calendar doesn't even say that. Some nutjobs just decided to infer that from it because they have nothing better to do and need some crazy crap to believe in for some reason. Apparently you are looking to join them.

Mayan calendar didn't say the world would end in 2012, crazy nutjobs just say the world is going to end all the time, they just come up with a new date everytime the last one fails.... expect "omg world is gunna end 2016!!" when nothing happens in 2012.

Contrary to popular belief, the Mayans never once predicted the end of the world on that date. It's the end of one age and the beginning of another; such a thing has happened many times in the past.

It's the transition into the 4th world.

I'm not asking for much, just half a day without some hobo following you around saying "the world will end!".

The Mayans couldn't predict the downfall of their civilization, what makes you think they could predict something as unpredictable as the end of the world?

The world is going to end when it ends and absolutely no human being could ever predict it before it happens.

I'm tired of these threads. No, the world won't end unless we end it ourselves.

I'll be sure to post here on the 22nd of December 2012.

But more importantly, what is the point in worrying about it. We as humans have very little control over the end of the world, so there is nothing we can do to stop it, even if we know when it is going to occur.

The Mayan calander just says that it will be the end of the 13th cycle, not the end of the world. It just says there they will be changes, but not bad ones

Yes just like 2000. Also, I hate when people say 2 thousand 8 and claim as its actually common when people should really say twenty 08 because we didn't say in the 1990's 1 thousand hundred and ( insert number here) did we?
