i think so.

The earth is boring nowadays, nothing cool is happening. Why? Because there are no new frontiers. Now, what if we had a new place where all of the world new advancements could be implemented from the beginning?

Antarctica is the new frontier, folks. Once all that silly ice melts, there will be LAND! Humans own the earth and there is no reason why we can't own Antarctica, too. We'd develop the heck out of it.

i say we shouldn't worry about global warming because it's a natural phenomena we cannot control and that we should make the best of it. instead of looking at all the negatives of global warming, why not look at what good could come of it? :)

Russia does too.

And I'm not entirely certain why they're allowed that.

I guess by "America" you mean the US. Why wouldn't they reserve the right to claim areas? Why give up the claims preemptively?

They're no-where near the continent, and they weren't the first to visit...

Doesn't matter. Since the US doesn't have to preemptively give up the right to claim some areas, you don't. And that is that.

12 countries get together to agree to share the Antarctic and not fight over it.
Russia, and the USA, are the only countries (of what now is 50) that reserve the right to simply "claim land".

That's akin to the countries getting together and agreeing not to spy on each other.
But Russia and the USA saying "except we get to spy on people".
