I dont know what it is, but when you hear rough recordings of songs youve heard many times, its so much easier to appreciate everything thats going on.

Ive been listening to songs from Thriller in their early states and offcourse that album is known for its incredible production but who agrees?

Studio. Even the best bands can never achieve the correct production values and balance of sound when performing live. Plus people are always too loud during concerts that you can't even enjoy the experience.

I prefer studio, but if a song uses an acoustic guitar I'll usually enjoy that as well. Electric guitars just don't sound good when they're played live. >__>

Offcourse a studio recording is way more polished, its perfect, but they dont feel like you you can immerse yourself in them Again, i suggest listening to Thriller outakes.

it really depends. sometimes, I really just marvel out how well produced an album is, but then I do like live performances. however, even those are produced sometimes, except for bootleg.

Yeah guess it depends on the artist, but even people like Linkin Park who suck hard live, i dont know, i prefer to listen to their live stuff now
