I think I have a virus in my computer. I use Firefox and my homepage is the default Google Search Engine. Sometimes when I click on a search result it would take me to a different website's search results. AND sometimes it brings me to a website that exclaims it is sending viruses at me. And sometimes Google works as it should.

What should I do? I've already "Cleaned" my computer with AOL Computer check up, McAfee scan, and Piriform CCleaner as well as some Windows cleaner. It still happens though. Is my computer trying to kill me?

I'd download Avast and do a scan. I use that and it is pretty thorough. Its free, btw.

Not unless EVERYTHING else fails. I had this problem a while back. Avast can solve it, as it did for me, but you can also run a system restore to a point before you had the virus, preferably before you installed something.

Well unless AVG is giving you problems I'd stick with it. They're both free and work well from what I understand.

K AVG is working for me great and my PC runs great. But you were making Avast sound much better. Thanks for letting me know though. I'll stick with AVG.

Get a proper anti malware program like Spybot Search & Destroy and try that. Get it here.

I like to reformat if I run into problems with my computer, but that's more work than a lot of people want to put in so... I say just download 2 or 3 antivirus programs and run them in safe mode (make sure you run them in safe mode).

I uninstalled Firefox, and reinstalled it. If I got rid of the program, why does it still have all my bookmarks? Also, I've discovered I have this problem on al my search engines (I suppose, it's the same with AOl search)

Does reformatting my PC get rid of all my data, memory, and programs?

If you reformat you will lose everything and have to start from scratch. You have a malware or spyware infection. Install and run Spybot Search and Destroy, Spyware Terminator, Ad Aware, or any of the popular anti spyware programs. Have you done this?

You lose everything, if you have not done it before and you don't know much about computers don't do it. There is an easier way back up your important files and run a hidden partition on your computer. It will format and reinstall windows with all the drivers you had. Check your computer manafacturer's website for this information and how to do it. Just back up important files and then run the hidden partition, and voila your computer is back to working like it did on day one when you got it. Let me know if I need to clarify anything, what I am saying may sound confusing.
