I kind feel that way. More and more pirates( people who take videos of certain films, steal workprint, dvd screeners) are getting better and better at their job ( my cuz esp, he has a high def [ yes 720p high def] format verison of live free or die hard) and with dvds comin out earlier ( Spiderman 3 the #1 movie this year, is comin to dvd in October....less than 4 months since released) and the new cable service with recent released films, i feel like going to the movie going experience is dying slowly.

Hopefully cinemas find new ways to bring their audience.

Jacked up ticket and concessions prices? A constant string of remakes and rehashes that suggests EA has secretly taken over Hollywood? Nah, man, the movie industry's strong as ever!:|

Yeah, it is. Not so much because of pirating, but because of awful movies.

No. Not really. Just a bunch of people watching the wrong movies and not enough butter in the popcorn.

There is a reason why theaters these days are always ghost towns (except when a select few movies are out). It's a combo of movies not being very good anymore in general and home entertainment systems are the norm in homes now. There is no reason to go to the movies anymore and pay more for one ticket than the DVD costs.

It's not that movies are getting worse, it's that Hollywood controls what movies play in theatres, so indie films and film that a specific region would more than likely find enjoyable and/or relate to have no chance.

truee...I saw this film last year on dvd called Lucky number Slevin....it's a pretty good film. And it has Bruce Willis , Morgan Freeman, Josh harnett, and Lucy Lu and it was a greta thriller. It sometimes makes me wonder why films liek these get toss to teh side while films like Underdog and Bratz great wide releases.

Either way, home entertainment centers in homes being in the norm now are a big part of it still.

i love going to the movies and all but man, the rest of the audience can just ruin a great experience. so far, the last 3 movies i went out and saw were ruined by some annoying people sitting around me who just wont shut up, sit still, or just stay calm. it really bums me out

i dont believe the experience is dying, if anything the experience is better than ever with bigger screens and better sound systems, now maybe less people maybe going to the theatre, but the experience itself is not dying in the slightest

I also believe that it's because of the lack of quality movies. I go to the movies maybe four times a year max. It's not really the ticket or candy prices (sneak the candy in like a normal person) that keep me away from theaters, it's just the fact there's nothing good to see. When the flood of superhero and CG animated animal movies goes away, I think I'll start going to the movies more often.
