Anyone else identify users by their avys/sigs?

I definitely do. I often forget the person if they change both their signature and avatar.

So long as their avatar is that of a living thing, I tend to picture them as their avatar too. Typing away at their computers.

It's one of the easier ways to identify people here, because I suck with names.

And I'd say I'm really Mecha-Mario.

Depends. There are some people I recognize by their sig/avy and some I don't.

I'm sure those that havent adblocked my sig, recognise me by it.

Personally I only recognise those with a standard theme. For instance pirate700 who always has something about... pirates. Or America. or something like that.

I wonder if anyone would remember me if I changed my signature and avatar...

If a user has a stable avatar/signature I will tend to recognize them by it and will be confused if they change it after a long period of usage. If a user constantly changes their avatar/signature I will tend to recognize them by username. This only applies if the user is prominent, if he/she is not then I never recognize him/her.

I pay INDEED more attention to the avatar picture or tagline than the actual name. But I'm anyways a very heavy visual type of person, so I guess it's no wonder that my first gaze always goes to the user pic.

Same when I check for my avatar pic in a post to find what I've written (yeeeaaahhh I KNOW there's Posting History to do that, but I still prefer it that way sometimes....actually, all of the time).

I do for just about everyone, and I assume everyone knows who I am when they see my sig and avy.

Yeah. It's Derpy.

My avatar was her getting electrocuted and my signature was of her stepping over my username, made by meconate. :D

Change it to a Zebra.

I connect to my avatar very much so. It's "Blade" from a series called "Puppet Master." He's my icon everywhere: here, Steam, Funnyjunk, Newgrounds, etc.

I would really prefer it to mean sth to me. So no zebras or other animals for me...
