Hope no one was hurt...at least no one other than the shooter.

I hate Brooke Baldwin, the lady hosting CNN right now, she is always trying to stir some shit up. Can never speak calmly, trying to not create panic.
Schools shootings in the US have become as regular news as bombings in Israel/Palestine. Nobody cares anymore and that's terrible.
@thereal25: Also less socialising, and the kids will grow up without developing ways of dealing with bullies, etc. Plus homeschooling only really works for parents who have heaps of time for their kids and are relatively smart in each field that they're teaching. So it definitely wouldn't work fot a lot of people.
Anyway, I'm not sure what's new to say about this. Same old same old. I guess it's disturbing that his parents were cool with him having/using guns at a relatively young age (because if teens can't be trusted to drive cars, I don't know why they're trusted with guns), but...that just seems to be the culture over there.
And now to once again hear the proposal of arming the teachers and putting kevlar on the kids.
Kids shouldn't even have to go to school. Home schooling is WAY better. No patronising teachers, no bullying, etc.
no social skills, biased learning environment, expensive costs, etc.
Hopefully he can be put on a gun safety course. He needs to learn that shooting people in a school is not okay. My thoughts go out to the guy. Probably feels pretty silly right now.
Why the hell are there so many of these shootings in schools and other public places going on?
Easily available guns and (more importantly) a culture completely in love with weapons.

It's our love of weapons that makes us freer than you'll ever be, bub.

Did you not read the article you posted or did it get updated afterwards?
"By the time it was over, two people -- the gunman and a female student -- were dead and four were wounded, according to authorities. Those wounded were all under the age of 18, they said."
I don't know if what I said earlier got deleted or if i screwed up and didn't post it.
Again though we as Americans have certain unalienable rights given to us by God. One of those is the right to bear arms, and with that freedom comes consequences that we must bear. Regular school shootings, along with other shootings such as that one in the movie theater in Colorado or Tuscon, are part of those consequences.
Giving up our arms to deter those events would be to give up our freedom and would likely displease God.
@korvus: the page was updated through the day, he posted before details were learned/released and while it was still an ongoing thing

*blinks* I'm pretty sure it was us who gave ourselves that right. God had nothing to do with our Constitution. If that was the case, we'd all be under one governmental rule by now.

I'm pretty sure he's trolling. He better be, otherwise he's probably one of those "God loves America more than any other country" kind of guys =P
@dave123321: I assumed so. I was just wondering since normally these kind of articles always highlight in some way any updates to their original article and that doesn't seem to be the case for this one.

not the biggest issue,
it's a young country and people are harsch on each other

People are harsh to each other everywhere. What does the country's age have anything to do with it?

It was updated...when I posted the article it was basically still happening and there wasn't any information yet.
parents need to teach their fucking children how to deal with problems... life is shitty sometime and other human being are assholes. learn to deal with it.
When I was a kid and got bullied... Y'know what my father told me to do? Punch him in the face. Get in a fight. Even if you loose... The bully will no longer look at you as easy prey.
So I punched the kid in the face. Got the whole wag of the finger "your not supposed to do that you should tell a teacher" spiel... Got suspended for a few days. And guess what? That price was worth it. Never got bullied again. And guess what? My former bully and I are now friends.
So later in life when I have kids... I'm teaching them the same thing. Punch your bullies in the face. Don't shoot them.
Reminds me of when I was bullying someone. I got caught up in the moment when we were picking on this kid in class. I loved getting laughs so I started throwing paper balls at him and after one hit him in the head, he got out of his seat and hit me over the head with his text book. I got seriously humbled and after class was over, I caught up with him and apologized and we actually shook hands. You have to deal with bullies upfront.

That was pretty good until you brought God into it.
Freedom has consequences. I'm more than willing to live with those consequences in order to remain free.

Well the Declaration of Independence does specify that our unalienable rights were passed down to us by our creator. As a christian I believe God is our creator. Do you disagree with any of that?

If they're unalienable it doesn't really matter who gave them to us. So I don't disagree per se, I just don't think it matters.

culture, laws are one thing, customs are another thing which keeps things in check.
people may be harsh on each other everywhere, but not that harsh as in the usa. I would have done a lot of jailtime in the usa
here in europe, none...
@elpresador-911: Well hurrr durrr all you like, the sad fact is, it does seem to be mainly in America.

As a Canadian, this kind of mentality is fucking terrifying.
How anyone can be okay with school shootings happening as long as they get to retain their firearms for "protection" is beyond me. It seems completely backwards and counter productive.
You're not giving up your freedom if you give up your firearms. I will never understand this.
@haziqagha What on Earth do you call it then? If we have a right to arms and then we give up those arms, we are giving up that right. We are giving up that specific freedom. And why should responsible gun owners give up their arms because unstable people shoot others? Honestly, freedom does come with a price. If you should say we should give up our guns so that it would reduce the number of shootings, I say give up your alcohol to reduce the number of drunk driving deaths, which are FAR more than any amount of shootings. Assuming you like alcohol, could you give it up because of other irresponsible people?
Well, you'd have to be a fucking moron to give a gun to a 16 year old. They tend to think the world and their life is over when they get dumped ffs.

Guns only have one purpose though, to kill things.
I will never understand the American mentality and obsession with firearms. It seems ridiculous.

Answer my question.
Answer my question.
You're comparing apples to oranges.
Alcohol in moderation is fine, like almost anything in the world. You can't say the same thing about a weapon.
Both things kill, but the purpose of one is solely to kill, the purpose of the other isn't.
It's a stupid comparison to make.
