ANIME: What are your thoughts on the Fate series?

What are your thoughts on the Fate series? It's one the current biggest series in Japan right now and it's only getting more and more popular. Is it overrated or legit?

I just finished catching up with the series and I must say I see why the franchise is so highly regarded. The 2006 series was okay and I enjoyed it but it wasn't something that really stood out but then I saw the prequel F/Z... holy shit. UBW 2014 is probably my favorite of the bunch but that's might be because I was more invested in the series after knowing the backstory from F/Z. I am not the person to explain a show and not spoiler the crap out of it so I'm leaving it at that. The fight scenes are definitely the best of the best I have ever seen and that alone rocket the shows up in my book but on top of that you have cool characters within an interesting spin on a death tournament cliché. The visual set pieces are insane. It's feature film quality and remind you that these are television series! All and all, I love the adaptations from Ufotable while work by Studio Dean is just alright. Can't wait for new movie!

I've only played the Fate/Stay Night visual novel and seen the TV series.

I liked them.

Probably won't end up getting around to seeing the other stuff since I'm lazy.

I only watched S/N and F/Z....but since I knew F/Z was a prequel I watched that first...big mistake...made S/N really boring for me...

Whenever I have some free time I plan on watching UBW...what was your impression of it?

@korvus: The movie version by SD is average and the series by Ufotable is just as enjoyable as F/Z. It looks a lot better and that's saying a LOT.

The only thing worth watching is F/Z. The rest is all shit - just stinks differently from one another.

UBW 2014's philosophies were dumb as hell.

FZ was good.

The 2014 fate stay is a bore thanks to Shiro being the most boring character ever created.

Truly and completely amazing.. i saw Fate Zero 2 years ago and Fate Stay Night like December last year and gotta say one of the best anime shows out there.. i heard that a movie is coming soon should be exciting

I don't know why but I find the whole series to be boring.

Absolute crap. Fate/Zero anyway. Unlimited Blade Works is better, but it still kinda feels like Zero, which makes it hard for me to back entirely. Great animation and production values though, which makes it all seem kinda like a waste, since they could have spent all that money on a good show.
