Cowboy Bebop is my all time favourite anime (NOT manga), and if you're looking for something really twisted, check out Elfen Lied. It's disgusting in just about every way, and yet it has this innocence to it that allows for amazing characters and a fantastic story. As far as reading goes, right now I'm into Old Boy. It's a good time.DiscoBurn
Even more disgusting than Bible Black? :O

Can't say I've seen it to comepare, but Elfen Lied is pretty messed up. It's a short series, so it goes by quickly, but it's totally worth it.
Anime:
Cowboy Bebop
Heat Guy J
Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone
Manga:
Bus Gamer
Zombie Powder
Eden
Full Metal Panic
Current season: Clannad is a must-see. It'll be a huge change from what you've watched..but seriously, try some seinen anime.
I'll just throw out some random recommendations:
-Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (this series seriously screws with your mind..I love it though)
-Monster
-Planetes
-Shakugan no Shana (The first season is great. The second season, currently airing, isn't so great..but it's picking up a bit)
-Utawarerumono
-Kanon (the 2006 version is amazing. The writers for this one also wrote Clannad..you'll see alot of similarities between the two)
-Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (heh..an obligatory recommendation. If you're into reading, the Light Novels are even better than the anime. Baka-Tsuki has them translated.)
-Elfen Lied (another obligatory recommendation..excessively violent with a bit of nudity, but a good show overall)
-Fate/Stay Night (it's actually kinda hard for me to recommend this, since I'm biased and favor the visual novel alot more than the anime. Still, it has a great storyline and characters, even though you'll wanna punch the protagonist in the face on a couple occasions with the storyline arc the anime follows.)
Eh.....I'll just go with some of the series I've downloaded/own.
Higurashi no naku Koro ni......as well as the second season (with a "Kai" added on the end of the title),Lucky Star, Death Note, the Rozen Maiden series, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Haruhi Suzumiya, Ghost in the shell: Stand alone complex, FLCL, Excel Saga, Chrono Crusade, Cromartie High School, the Full metal panic series, Chobits, GTO, Elfen Lied, Azumanga Daioh, Evangelion, Trigun, Hellsing Ultimate (don't even bother with the tv series), hell girl, Tokyo Majin.......well, there's some. & I wish I could say Shakugan no Shana.....but I haven't seen it yet ;_;
Try Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Even if you don't want to watch it watch the last ep.
That anime is epic.
Code Geass
Rahxephon
The Twelve Kingdoms
Hellsing
Elfen Lied
Clannad
Gurren Laggan
Beck
Blue Submarine #6
Ah! My Goddess
Dennoh Coil
Nice to see lots of people know about Tengen Toppa.ManILoveSony
A few times when I've mentioned Gurren Lagann before, nobody ever commented on it, nor did I see anyone mention it themselves. But it would seem it's starting to become more known to the folks here at OT......cause it's actually quite a good anime I think.

and I feel even worse now that I read the word Utawarerumono. I don't have a problem with anything most of the time, but come on. I deleted that one with no remorse.syztemBlasphemy. Who deletes anime?
What exactly didn't you like about it? Seems it's pretty well-liked by most whom I've seen give their opinion on it.

To summarize without spoiling: the plot twist was retarded. I'll give the first half some credit at least.syztem
Ah yeah, there's a couple "what the hell?" points in the storyline. The action scenes were also kinda boring to sit through. I enjoyed it overall though.

They still might, if the auther puts out more books on the main char.
Because this place is too busy drooling over Bleach, Naruto and Elfen Lied to take someone elses recommendations.syztem
Well I haven't really seen Bleach & Naruto.....guess I'm just not interested enough ;).......though Elfen Lied is a pretty good series. But yeah, it pretty much gets mentioned multiple times every single time a recommendation thread pops up.
