The mosquito! Thoughts?
Tbh, I was a little shocked to have found out that it was in fact, the mosquito. I thought it'd be some kind of spider or reptile.

That doesn't suprise me. The mosquito has been mass murdering human beings since we first came about. Funny how the smallest living organisms are the ones most likely to kill us.;)
Now I'm scared  i might as well start packing and head to the arctic circle, no mosquitos are going to follow me there. ill take my chances with a polar bear any day[QUOTE="-FlyLo-"]They rank it based on how many people its killed.GabuEx
I know. And the mosquito has really killed no one. It's malaria that kills people.
Now that box jellyfish - that's a badass killer. :P
I know I kind of disagree with the mosquito. I thought it'd be the Brazilian Wandering Spider :PWell it's lucky that my country (Australia) doesn't have malaria.
And it does supprise me... I thought it would be something like the great white shark, but that's 4th.

Malaria has killed millions of people. The mosquito is just an innocent bystander who doesn't know any better, you cruel accusers.
I wonder if Mosquito's unknowingly spread AIDsThe Mosquito has killed millions of people, it's terrible. Toriko42
No it hasn't. It's the organisms it transmits that kill people. Kind of like HIV. HIV has never killed anyone, rather it's just all the crap that infects you after you develop AIDS that kills you.
Anyway, the world's true deadliest animal is humans. It's hard to outkill a species that is single handedly responsible for increasing extinction rates by a factor of 100-1000x. Even the biggest animal threat posed to humans is other humans.

If it makes you feel any better chances are good that if there was enough venom injected in you to cause impotence then you'd probably be dead.
I think I'd rather be in a room with a mosquito than any of those other things.DrSponge

Are you going to learn how to ride a polar bear?

No, humans are just 2nd, parasites are, they keep coming back and it's very hard to kill them without infesting the forest.[QUOTE="-FlyLo-"]They rank it based on how many people its killed.GabuEx

What about the Great White? It's only killed 65 people since 1876! And most cases of Great Whites attacking humans were because the great white mistook the person for a seal.
Lol agreed. That doesn't suprise me. The mosquito has been mass murdering human beings since we first came about. Funny how the smallest living organisms are the ones most likely to kill us.;)

Kinda disappointed in the fact that hippos weren't on that list. Hippos attack crocodiles and I'm pretty sure they've killed more people than lions. And mosquitoes is a weird choice for nr 1... but I guess that if you count the malaria as their shotgun then it is pretty dangerous.Hungry_bunnyYeah I remember watching this show retelling when a man lost his arm to a hippo. They mentioned the statistics that more humans get killed by hippo attacks, than any other animal in Africa.
That was a terrible article. Great White Sharks? Wtf, there are far more dangerous and aggressive sharks out there. Heck, there are coconut trees more dangerous than sharks out there. :|

I still would NOT want to be attacked by a Great White, they look ferocious. Imagine this bastard just leaping up and devouring you[QUOTE="gameguy6700"]

No, humans are just 2nd, parasites are, they keep coming back and it's very hard to kill them without infesting the forest.Biologists have seriously suggested that humans are the sixth mass extinction. In other words, we're as catastrophic to life as giant asteroids and dramatic climate changes. A parasite may seemingly kill a lot of stuff (which it doesn't btw, most parasites just weaken you, it's not in their interests to kill you) but when was the last time you heard of malaria wiping out a species? Now when was the last time you heard of humans wiping out a species?
We kill off a few species every year. That's not killing off one or two animals, that's eliminating entire populations of animals. For example, after humans arrived in Ocenia the biodiversity of the rail (a type of bird) went from 2,000 species to an astounding four. In the 4000-8000 years preceeding human arrival in the Galapagos there were a total of 3 extinctions. In the ~400 years since human arrival on the Galapagos there have been 20 more extinctions. It's been suggested that at the current rate of extinctions and species endangerment that in less than 95 years 60% of all species on Earth will have gone extinct. Think about that for a second. That means that humans, in a mere 150,000 years of existence, will have managed to kill off 60% of life on Earth. All the other animals on that list can't even kill off one species, let alone millions. Even past super-predators that were able to kill off a couple species weren't able to usher in a new mass extinction event.
Except that it wasn't. Seriously, 65 human deaths since 1876 makes you a deadly animal? I'd be more worried about standing under a coconut tree than sharing a tank with a Great White. Doubly so if I had an open wound. Coconuts are attracted to the smell of blood.Hippos are way more dangerous than elephants. Good list otherwise I guess..

Indeed. Great white sahrks only have the fame. In fact the most aggressive shark is the Bull-Shark he kils 10 times more than the great white one. and yes, its also in Australia
About the jellyfish, it have been recently discovered that the sand box is not the most dangerous one. They a have tiny cousin, to the size of a bean with a much more powerfull poison. Although this have been found for about 2 years only. The sand box still carry the fame.
not the smallest living organisms..... Mosquitos carry so many diseases. In the summer we have to make sure we put on bug spray because 1 in so many mosquitos carries Triple E (EEE)That doesn't suprise me. The mosquito has been mass murdering human beings since we first came about. Funny how the smallest living organisms are the ones most likely to kill us.;)
