What do you guys think of this movie? i love it and think its one of the darkest and funniest satirical movies of our decade. Film-Guy
I absolutely love this film. I can't quite figure out exactly what happened in the end, but I have theories and am actually quite happy with it being so ambiguous. Truly a brilliant piece of cinema, and quite underrated sadly.

agreed.
I love it so much, and I laughed the whole way through. I love it when he describes the music, and when he axes Jared Leto.
[QUOTE="sammyjenkis898"]I've got to say that I am not a fan. I do think Christian Bale was great though. I would hardly call it one of the darkest film of our decade..Film-Guy

Funniest, key word in that sentence:| If you disagree then I would be glad to hear your suggestions for other dark satires made this decade. I do love a good satire:)
[QUOTE="aaronmullan"]Can anyone give me any views on the book?Film-Guy
Either you love it or hate it. Similar in a way to clockwork orange, if you can get past the brutality and sex of the book, you will find it to be a darkly funny satire on 80s yuppie lifestyle.
Well I can easilly get past the gore and sex, I'm just not sure what it's about either.

Well its pretty much a rich guy who works for a big company in new york goes to fancy restraunts and mingles with people he secretly loathes and wants to kill. So at night he gets usually picks up hookers and kills them in messed up ways. One way involved a chainsaw and a small rodent inserted in an uncomfortable area. Also I think a coat hanger is used too. Honestly thats all I remember of it.

The ATM machine is another of my favorites, but this is my favorite here
"Why are there copies of the st yle section all over the place, do you have a dog? A little chow or something?"
"No, Allen"
"Is that a raincoat"
"Yes it is!"

I love how he explains Huey Lewis and does that awesome dance.
"Its not just a song about the pleasures of conformity, but its also a personal statement about the band itself, hey paul!"
Then the axe in the face!
"Try getting a reservation at Dorcea now!"
I think thats the line at least. Also when he explains Phil Collins to the hookers and instead of enjoying the sex with them much he just looks at himself in the mirror during it and flexes his muscles:lol:

I hope he does more comedy, that scene where he approaches that one guy in the bathroom and is about to strangle him as he is peeing, and the guy turns out and thinks Bateman is coming on to him:lol: The expression on Christian Bales face as the guy comes on to him and I think he even gives him his number is hilarious. Especially since his hands are still raised as if he is still gonna strangle him.

I agree, it was a great movie. I didn't really know what dark comedy was until I watched it. I never actually read the novel, but heard that the movie is really watered down compared to the book. Nonetheless, it's such a well made film. My sig likes it too.martialbullet
Your sig makes me laugh every time I see it:lol:
