JK :D

Have you ever challenged yourself with a silly ultimatum and failed? I spend more money than I'd like on alcohol these days. Same with spending money for fast food and snacks from gas stations. I should really give them up and save the cash, but I am just a weak human.

Been smoking cigs for the most part of 20 years. I quit for the 5 years I was married, but started up again when I got divorced. I have it in my mind to quit, but 'now' is never a good time. :-\

Its easy to stop anything you need to purchase. Just dont buy it. That or get so drunk and sick on your favorite liquor that the slightest smell of it makes you feel sick.

Happened to me when i was sick on Gin when i was 16. Cant even smell the stuff now without feeling the need to vomit.

I'm pretty sure that usually doesn't work for people who have already become addicted. I'm not saying that it didn't work for you, but since you were only 16 at the time I'm thinking that you probably weren't an actual alcoholic.

Alcohol thing is a tad annoying. The only way I've been able to stop it is to be out doing stuff, but that can end up being more expensive then the alcohol. When i'm at home I find it hard to settle into gaming or watching a movie without a light beer nearby. I surf and live fairly near the coast but my job tires me out sometimes and I don't always feel like the excursion (or it's F-off freezing). Sometimes I settle for a swim at the pool near me, but the big problem, after I do either of those things I get this ridiculous urge for a nice cool beer! So I'm just delaying the inevitable. It helps a bit as I burn up hours of the day that I would of spent drinking beers otherwise. If my mind and body is set on something I tend not to think of it.

I'm actually quite skinny which is surprising, I show no strong physical signs of alcohol abuse apart from some mornings when I've had a pretty uneventful day previously, and then I look and feel like a crack whore.

Thing is I want this to stop before all that stuff ever starts, and that crack whore version of me becomes the only thing people see.

I'm thinking of taking up split working shifts, so I work morning and evening just to stop me from being able to drink at any time of the day. I've totally forgotten what it was like when a simple dilute orange satisfied me.

Another thing I want to add! I blame modern day drinks for being so crap. They shove sugar in everything, way too much, sometimes you want something more then bottled water, but your hard pressed to find a thirst quenching drink that doesn't taste like sugar water. I personally have a taste for the savory (i'm a greek salad type person) but often I find in convenient stores I got a choice, Beer, Sugar or Water. Juice doesn't count it's not always thirst quenching and some of that's stuffed with sugar! One drink I find works is Shloer, it's like a none alcoholic wine. It doesn't taste over sweet but it can only hold my addiction away for a day at best.

I've always been the kind of a guy who succeeds in what he sets out to do. However, I started smoking some two years ago because of some really shitty conditions (excuses I know). I tried more than once to quit smoking and the longest I lasted was like a week. I always thought that I don't have an addictive personality but if there's one thing I learned from picking up the habit of smoking is that I do have an addictive personality. So evidently smoking taught me something after all: never touch an addictive substance. I never drank a drop of alcohol due to unavailability and religious convictions. At some point in my life the two conditions were not there and I could have tried alcohol and was immensely tempted to but I refrained from doing that knowing that I will probably never stop once I begin or that I will have to go through a great deal of suffering and effort just to quit something I had no need for in the first place. I had a similar experience with weed. And now after that period of my life has abated to some extent I'm thankful that I did not screw myself over.

Tried quitting smoking cigs plenty of times. It's so hard. One I time I told myself I would buy a pack and only smoke one a day. Ergo the 20 day challenge lol. After already smoking it some lady pulls out in front of me and I slammed on my breaks stopping inches from her car.

I then pulled over and chain smoked a few. Ultimatum failed, I will probably smoke cigs until I die unfortunately. I have managed to cut back a lot so I guess you have to take the small victories as they come.

The only thing I have an issue with is cigs. I have never had an issue quitting anything else, including alcohol which I used to abuse.

Cigs were easy for me to quit after nearly two years of smoking heavily. I started smoking later in life though, that's why I think it was so easy for me to quit. I feel sorry for those who started in their teens.

I got close to 300 lbs being a fat pot smoking alcoholic. I quit the pot years ago but couldn't put down the bottle.

Then I got a DWI.

I had to attend AA meetings. Go to one in your area and just listen to some truly heartbreaking stories about marriages dissolving, losing jobs, and even homelessness.

It might not be for you but get a gym membership. I guarantee that going 3x a week at first and working out for an hour a day will make you want to put that bottle down. It did me.

alcohol is poison, I came to realize this after I was in a hurry to make a doctors appointment and I was on 2 hours of sleep... I showered, shaved and I got in the stupid habit of using rubbing alcohol to sterilize my shaver etc, I had some diluted in a small cup that I'd dip my shaver in and forgot and rinsed my mouth after brushing my teeth, I got the diluted rubbing alcohol in my mouth and probably swallowed only a tiny portion after gargling. Just that little amount went right to my nervous system, my arms got light, and I felt like I was going to die, my breathing got really slow and heavy so I called poison control and they eventually sent EMT out to check on me. Anyway I never even keep that toxic shit around anymore since I don't want to kill even one brain cell or damage my nervous system at all. Just inhaling it is toxic and poisons you etc.

Isopropyl is different than what's in liquor, and if you study alcohol in general you'll realize it's all bad for you and certain types can make you instantly go blind. Even if you accept Ethanol the kind used in liquors it's flammable, so is something flammable good to F'ing DRINK? think about it, it's slowly giving you central nervous system damage. I don't drink anymore at all.

Probably not. The blistering would have healed up and it would be soft again after that long of a break.

don't hang out with people anymore that you got drunk with

Don't even start with the first drink, you're not ready for that, you can't say no to the second

After a while you'll lose your appetite for it

Find some other hobby, gaming for instance

When I had a lot of stress in my job , i started drinking. I didn't drink daily but I was drunk more than twice a week. It took me a couple of years to get off it. Peanuts actually when you compare it to other drugs (if you're not a daily heavy drinker of course)

Masturbation is not a bad thing , its something totally normal person and every healthy person does it . and its the healthest and the safest way to answer your sexual needs . and most of bad effects that people say about it are just lies .

read more here : http://www.askmen.com/dating/love_tip_500/500_negative-side-effects-of-masturbation.html

of course too much of anything is bad . same with masturbation . but 2-3 times a week is normal and good .

The fact that your acknowledging that you have a problem means its not to late. Correct your issue, find a way to do something else. Get help if you have to, but stop. Find a path that leads you away from this problem.

Luckily I've been around enough friends that have completely let themselves be controlled by the need to purchase alcohol, cigarettes and drugs that I realize what a destructive force they can be.

It also helps that once you get sick as a dog from binge drinking you never want to visit hang over hell ever again, at least I didn't.

Of course you need moderation in everything, but there's people out there that just can't control themselves and their vices, it's really a two-fold problem.

just buy cheap booze. Scientifically speaking, there isnt much difference between a $10 bottle of liqour and a $100 bottle other than the various spices and flavorings (although in the case of vodka which is unflavored, there is literally no difference). Alcohol is a molecule, and all alcohol molecules are created equal.
