6 Year Old Accused of Sexual Harassment for Kissing Girl

A 6-year-old boy near Colorado Springs, Colorado, was suspended from school for kissing a girl on the hand. You read that correctly.

"It was during class," first-grader Hunter Yelton said in an interview with CNN affiliate KRDO. "We were doing reading group, and I leaned over and kissed her on the hand. That's what happened."

Not only did Hunter's peck get him suspended from school, but the school accused him of sexual harassment, KRDO reported.

Hunter's mom, Jennifer Saunders, is outraged.

"This is taking it to an extreme that doesn't need to be met with a 6-year-old," Saunders told KRDO. Now my son's asking questions, 'What is sex, mommy?'"

Maybe the mom should had raised his boy better. Such depravity can't be tolerated.

Parents should be ashamed raising a little boy who's behavior perpetuates rape culture.

I don't get it, who escalated the claim, the girl's family? or the school take it upon themselves?

1.) They'd have to prove sex was a motivator for it to be sexual harassment.
If he's 6, and he's only now asking "What's sex mommy?" It's a clear sign it's non-sexual.

2.) The girl would have had to be offended, a 3rd party cannot assert something was harassment, if the "victim" doesn't feel victimized, it's not harassment.

3.)Technically, because it's physical, it's sexual assault, not harassment.

That kid should have known better. Showing affection in any way, shape, or form is not tolerated in America.

"She was fine with it, they are ‘boyfriend and girlfriend.’ The other children saw it and went to the music teacher."...

The school district also says Hunter's parents may believe that kissing the girl at school is overall acceptable -- but that's where the school disagrees. They're hoping the suspension changes Hunter's behavior.

reminds me of when i was thirteen and got suspended for snapping a girls bra strap. the girl didn't even mind, she kind of liked me, but the faculty wouldn't have it because healthy, heterosexual behavior isn't tolerated in North America .

Political Correctness has created a culture of vacuity of thought.

It seems like the school didn't do its job and teach these kids on what is unwanted touching. The girl apparently was ok with being kissed on the hand and cheek, so its not really unwanted touching when the other person is fine with it.

Sexual harassment does not fit in a grade school level when most of these kids don't know what sex is. The school board went way too far and it they were to press for sexual harassment, hopefully the mom will fight it and get the charges reversed.

Suspending a 6 year old seems like a bad idea.

Children at that age tend to lack discernment, and are more a product of their genes and environment at that point than autonomous human beings.

However getting suspended from school for sexual harassment carries certain labels which can likely affect how he views himself, and how his peer group views him.

Political correctness is indeed influencing the United States. However, I say that this incident has to do with that school and I hypothesize that public school administration that is a part of this topic in general has a strictness to conformity which I believe is a con of that institution.

Thinking back to the mid-80s when I was in kindergarten, I used to kiss girls all the time in the bathroom. Going by today's standards, I might be a registered sex offender now.

Pretty damn dumb. If anything the teacher or whoever it was that saw the kid kiss the hand, should've just told him not to do that "don't touch other people without asking" or something along those lines.

It's quite ridiculous to accuse someone of "sexual harassment" when they are still in the "age of innocence". I think the problem with many public schools, and perhaps some private and religious schools as well though probably not to the same extent, is that they take a "one size fits all", bureaucratic approach to discipline that focuses too much on "policies and procedures" rather than relying on the teacher or administrator to exercise discernment and judgment and to realize that some situations should be treated differently. I think this is pretty much the same problem that leads to schools sometimes giving the same punishment to the kid who starts a fight as they give to the kid who is just defending himself.

Supposedly he wasn't just kissing the girl, he was consistently groping her etc. The school still didn't handle it well but they should have talked to the kid and let him know that that's not okay.
