Getting closer to the big one?
I felt it here in San Jose. At first I thought someone upstairs had fallen off their bed, but the whole apartment building was rolling and that's when I knew it was earthquake. Scared me a bit, because I am definitely not prepared for a big one.
If it was an 8.0+, I'd probably be injured right now because these buildings would just collapse.
I felt it in San Francisco. I was just late night browsing on Netflix when the apartment started to shake. I assumed it would be a short one but, it lasted over 15 seconds. For an earthquake of 6.0 magnitude, that is a long time. Especially if it were a 7 or 8.0. Earthquakes don't need a very long time to cause massive damage.
California could use an epic natural disaster to so it can be rebuilt stronger.
Or they could just build it stronger in preparation as opposed to waiting for loads of people to die. I know that investments like that don't usually happen except in the aftermath of a crisis, but it would be far more prudent to do so.
Or do you mean that literally having entire cities crumble would be the only way possible to build it stronger? I rather doubt it would happen that way considering the extent of our "rebuilding efforts" in the wake of Katrina. We would most likely look at the disaster area and release a collective, "Meh".
There was just another earthquake this morning here, we felt it in San Francisco. Its not over yet. Agghhh !! Again it was centered in Napa, here is the link below. FUnny, they were just saying its ok to visit, lol ..
