70 minutes and still they haven't clipped us...shit, is this really happening ?!

Iran - Nigeria is so boring

#355 Posted by 4myAmuzumament (1791 posts) -

This Nigeria-Iran game is balls. Iran can only really defend and while Nigeria has been owning own possession and opportunities, they can't create any plays. Booooring.

Latinos are the world's best at soccer.

Before this match ,all of the games had goals and none ended up a tie.Looks like we're moderating both of the statistics :P

Germany-Portugal was the only match of today that I was interested to watch. Now looking forward to Brazil-Mexico tomorrow!

#360 Posted by PcGamingRig (7185 posts) -

0-0 how dare they. :)

Ghana USA may be good though.

#361 Posted by johnd13 (8543 posts) -

@Desmonic: Maybe I'll catch some of it before I go to bed. It's starting at 1 am here. :O

#363 Edited by johnd13 (8543 posts) -

@Desmonic: My country(Greece) is playing against Japan on Friday 1 am and I have an exam in the same day at 11 am lol. But to hell with it I'll be watching it, we don't play World Cup matches every day! :D

#365 Posted by deeliman (3538 posts) -

I didn't catch Ghana vs Iran, but I guess I haven't really missed anything lol

That's the spirit! :D until the soul crushing moment when you sit to start the exam and realise you've made a huge mistake! :D

Yeah they better win lol.

LMAO, Iran totally degraded the whole tournament.

#368 Posted by themajormayor (24464 posts) -

Iran did what they were supposed to. If they manage another tie against Argentina (cause let's face it, Argentina is a bunch of ****) and a win against Bosnia they will like probably go to the next stage.

But they were super boring. I will not support them as much anymore. Hope Bosnia wins the group with Iran or Nigeria second.

Great soccer score basket!

#370 Posted by deeliman (3538 posts) -

Damn that was a quick goal

That seems to be the case every time I see them at the Cup. I remember when they were in Portugal's group in '06, and they played for a scoreless draw in every match. And they'll do it again this year.

So tell us @korvus ,how does it feel to get your ass capped by Germans ?! :P

Not to mention my old country is already on its way to get its own ass capped by Nigeria in a couple of hours O___O

Eh...what can I say? I'd rather they won, or at least being able to say "Yeah, it was close but in the end Germany was the better team". As is, I think calling Germany "the better team" would still be insulting... =P But in the end, it's only sports, and I I'm not on the team, so it's all good =D

#375 Posted by PcGamingRig (7185 posts) -

great goal! 1-1

#377 Posted by PcGamingRig (7185 posts) -

gooooal! 2-1 USA

Dear World,

It's called soccer and this is how you play it.

A deserved win for the US I have to say, now they actually have a chance of surviving the group stages.

I take it that you didn't watch the game.

It wasn't the prettiest win and they're going to need to play better to have a prayer of advancing, but a win is a win, and I'll take it everytime.

I think he's just trolling for laughs. I'm from the US but I'm very realistic about our chances. Hoping we can make the knockout stages, but we've got a long way to go before we can truly compete with the elite teams in this tourney.

USA defended very well and took their chances, so they deserved 3 points in that sense.

A draw would have also been fair if it had happened though, as Ghana dominated the second half.

#387 Posted by sonicare (53650 posts) -

CONCACAF teams are 3-1 in first round. Way to go Mexico, Costa Rica, and US.

Nevertheless ,Portugal still have a good chance of getting through to the knock-out round. They can get through with a win (Ghana), a draw (US) and a little bit of luck.

@Desmonic: You're probably right. I don't know jack about football. Not one to watch sports, I only watch Euro and WC (and some NBA when the mood hits). I don't even know who the Portuguese players are XD

You're a big fat old liar korvus ! You told @indzman you could give him your autograph on behalf of Chris Ronaldo when he(indz) was surprised to know you were Portuguese ! I'm gonna find that post...

Edit : Here it is.You said that almost two months ago.(Shit ,it feels as if it was only yesterday...time flies doesn't it)

I'm afraid you misunderstood. I can get him CR's autographs not because I know him but because I'm such a bigshot in my country that everybody knows ME. If I want someone to sign something for me they will because I'm the one asking...

#394 Posted by elkoldo (1619 posts) -

@korvus: if you say so , but between the two of us ,you did know CR was a Portuguese player :P

#395 Edited by Korvus (9058 posts) -

@elkoldo: Of course I knew Ronaldo was a Portuguese player =P I meant that I have no knowledge of stats, how good players are, who got recruited for the national team, etc. I've heard about most players there, but that's it.

Also, me being a bigshot in Portugal was obviously a joke =P

Hey guys, it might be a fun idea to post a betting thread of sorts, where everyone in OT can bet on matches and who they think will win and with what score, and after the world cup we count who guessed correctly the most and declare him the winner. No real prizes of course, just for fun. Well, you could count bragging rights as a prize i guess :P

If it gets enough positive feedback I might make the thread myself
