This Nigeria-Iran game is balls. Iran can only really defend and while Nigeria has been owning own possession and opportunities, they can't create any plays. Booooring.

LMAO, Iran totally degraded the whole tournament.

Iran did what they were supposed to. If they manage another tie against Argentina (cause let's face it, Argentina is a bunch of ****) and a win against Bosnia they will like probably go to the next stage.

But they were super boring. I will not support them as much anymore. Hope Bosnia wins the group with Iran or Nigeria second.

That seems to be the case every time I see them at the Cup. I remember when they were in Portugal's group in '06, and they played for a scoreless draw in every match. And they'll do it again this year.

Eh...what can I say? I'd rather they won, or at least being able to say "Yeah, it was close but in the end Germany was the better team". As is, I think calling Germany "the better team" would still be insulting... =P But in the end, it's only sports, and I I'm not on the team, so it's all good =D

A deserved win for the US I have to say, now they actually have a chance of surviving the group stages.

I take it that you didn't watch the game.

It wasn't the prettiest win and they're going to need to play better to have a prayer of advancing, but a win is a win, and I'll take it everytime.

I think he's just trolling for laughs. I'm from the US but I'm very realistic about our chances. Hoping we can make the knockout stages, but we've got a long way to go before we can truly compete with the elite teams in this tourney.

USA defended very well and took their chances, so they deserved 3 points in that sense.

A draw would have also been fair if it had happened though, as Ghana dominated the second half.

CONCACAF teams are 3-1 in first round. Way to go Mexico, Costa Rica, and US.

@elkoldo: Of course I knew Ronaldo was a Portuguese player =P I meant that I have no knowledge of stats, how good players are, who got recruited for the national team, etc. I've heard about most players there, but that's it.

Hey guys, it might be a fun idea to post a betting thread of sorts, where everyone in OT can bet on matches and who they think will win and with what score, and after the world cup we count who guessed correctly the most and declare him the winner. No real prizes of course, just for fun. Well, you could count bragging rights as a prize i guess :P

I think that's a cool idea.
