Xenoblade Chronicles X Available Now

From the creators of the awesome Baten Kaitos and Xenoblade Chronicles comes an all new adventure from Monolith Soft. A horrible intergalactic war has caused a handful of Earths survivors to flee for their lives in an attempt to preserve their very existence. With Earth totally wiped out the group finds themselves in an inhabitable environment on a planet where they must adapt quickly and survive from the hostile creatures that call it home.

Using the battle system that Xenoblade Chronicles Wii had, Monolith adds more depth in which you must use skills and strategies to duke it out with some of the most powerful creatures the Earthlings had ever witnessed. Will you survive and learn to tell the tale? Will you get revenge on those who have put you in your place? Or will you fall victim to extinction like some many others before you?

FEATURES:

• Riding and controlling a weaponized mech, players can explore every inch of the massive open world displayed in gorgeous high-definition graphics. The world is filled with strange and imaginative creatures, from small bugs to giant dinosaurs.
• As characters improve in different classes, they will learn new combat and defensive skills, or Arts. Players can customize the Arts palette as their characters learn new Arts. All Arts have a “recast" time – once cast, the player must wait out a “cooldown" period before that Art can be used again.
• Players can customize everything about the main character's appearance, including gender, shapes, height, skin color, voice and tattoos.

If you have pre-ordered or have plans to buy later, Nintendo recommends people who get the physical copy to download one or more packs to speed the game. These various ways include:

This comes to a total of 9.77g, to download the packs, just hop on the eShop and visit the Xenoblade Chronicles X and click on View Downloadable Content from the info page. Also the download takes about 3 hours, so be sure to disable the Auto Power-Down feature found in the System Settings under Power Settings.

I pre-ordered a physical copy Xenoblade Chronicles X (XCX) from GameStop so I could make payments on it. This might be my last major purchase until Star Fox Zero. XCX looks like a pretty big game, and the trailers and gameplay have been pretty impressive.

@Collie_Lover: I think im in the same boat, i pre-ordered Zelda Twilight Princess Wii U Bundle also. Some good 3DS games coming, ill try to get into a few, but i have a lot of Zelda planned out for next year. Ill be focusing all of December on this game though.

Also if people are playing the original Xenoblade Chronicles and want to talk about it here or make a new thread would be cool also. I know a few people who are playing it, i was thinking about making a separate thread for it, but decided maybe not, im gonna make a Rodea Sky Soldier one in a bit it think instead.

@mesome713: GameStop offered the collector's edition strategy guide at 20% off with the purchase of the game, but we did not take the offer. XCX will be our first experience in the series, and we wanted to use the money for other games/amiibo; but it sounded like it would be deal for serious fans. Starting a thread for Rodea Sky Soldier sounds good, and I look forward to seeing videos that people will post about it too.

@Collie_Lover: For a game like Xenonlade, a guide can come in very handy. The scale and depth of everything is massive, it's a very hardcore rpg. But yeah, having more money to spend on other stuff sounds good also.

It's a great world to jump into to. They make some beautiful environments and everything is very creative. I'm almost finished with Xenoblade Chronicles, I wanted to run through it again before X released. Can't wait for the new one, love what I'm seeing so far.

The book that they were offering was a more expensive collector's edition for $30+. We figured we would get the normal edition should we need one, and thought the price would be around $20, but we did not research strategy guides yet. It would not be too late to get the collector's edition at the discount should we change our minds because we have not finished paying for the game yet.

@Collie_Lover: Yeah, you can also always use the internet if needed. That's what i did for Xenoblade Chronicles on some of the side quests. I've got the guide preordered at Target, but would like to get one at Best Buy so I can can get my gamers card discount. They still have it listed as coming soon, so I've been keeping an eye out.

Survival Guides

I am getting a disc copy of the game, but I am thinking about getting a powered HDD. I have 16.1G of free space, but the download speed packs take up storage space too.

It might be best to get the basic and enemy packs or get the basic pack only.

@GameboyTroy: Thanks for posting the videos. When I looked at the download packs in the e-Shop I couldn't find the file sizes.

I'm getting it, I just probably won't have time to play it. Fallout 4 is consuming my life, and it's hard to play another long RPG right after a similar one.

@yokofox33: Very true, its why i skipped MGSV, Witcher 3, Fallout 4, and Just Cause 3. I figured when i have more time to play them they will have all their bugs fixed by then. I want to play some next year, but i have 5 Zelda games lined up for next year not counting Zelda Wii U. Plus Fire Emblem Fates and Dragon Quest games, its gonna be crazy.

Well the two are only similar in that they both feature an open world, after that all similarities end. I imagine, I'll put FO4 on the backburner for this game or maybe go back and forth between the two.

Man I'm not looking forward to this and Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam releasing on the same day here in the UK.

Survival Guide Part 4

Maybe the translation from game to television is poor but early this morning I saw a commercial for XC and I thought it was one of those free-to-play games for your browser or smart phone. I do hope game play doesn't translate well to commercials for the sake of this game.

I know...its complicated. I have always preferred home consoles over portables. I would probably turn the 3D off if I had a 3DS because 3D gives me headaches (literally). If I understand correctly some of the games will not work on 2DS. Of the handhelds, the 2DS is probably the one I would be interested in most, but overall I just prefer to buy games for one system.

@Collie_Lover: I get that, but to chose the less sucessful console over the global juggernaut aka 3DS is crazy, as for the 3D giving you headaches, you could just adjust it to be barley 3D, still get the effect and no headache, a bud of mine was an idiot and returned his 3DS from it giving him headaches, I was like you know you can adjust it with the slider on the side right? He was like "THERE'S A SLIDER? F*CK!" lol.

@Collie_Lover: Yeah, mine was suppose to come tomorrow, but Target got it here a little early. I think sometimes it happens on a bunch on pre-orders cause they cant time it perfectly all the time. I wont be playing it till tomorrow though.

Got my copy in the mail today. Gamestop fucked up my Special Edition preorder. They kept telling me that they couldn't process my card, even though my financial institution showed that they had charged me six times. They were inevitably going to drop my preorder, so I canceled it and got the regular version on Amazon instead with the collector's edition guide.

It's not quite what I wanted, but whatever. The game is amazing and I'm never ordering anything from Gamestop again.

@YearoftheSnake5: That collectors guide is awesome. I got the one at amazon for $22 also. Cant beat that for a hard cover guide, its a steal. The special edition set for Xenoblade Chronicles is not all that, im not a fan of paper stuff, so it might just be me, i do like the metal USB music drive though, but like all my paper collectors stuff, will go in a box for storage and not on display.

Got my LE this morning, but because of slow internet, ..still downloading all the speed up packs & dlc (8 hours ago)..31 mins to go now...DOH! :P

@superbuuman: Nice, yeah them packs are crazy big. Its worth it though, game is so pretty. I knew it was going to look good, but when you see it in person the attention to detail is amazing.

Mine arrived this morning, so I was searching everywhere to find my external hard drive to install the extra packs, only to discover that the spare one I have isn't compatible with Wii U.

The jumping is the best part.

Watched my wife play. Quick impression-lots of options in character customization (you probably won't see other characters that look exactly like yours and you get to pick your voice/accent), super detailed and expansive terrain, super detailed textures, nice weather effects, creatures look interesting, combat is challenging but not too difficult at start, interesting story, and New LA looks interesting. Looks like it is going to be a pretty immersive RPG. The initial update took around 5 minutes. We did not download any speed up packs, and did not notice any problems with encounters yet.

@Chozofication: Yeah, I wasn't happy with them. I sent them a rather nasty message with a screenshot of all their pending transactions after I canceled. Oh well. It was still worth a shot.

The game is amazing so far. It's a feat of technical wizardry. I can have fun just wandering around in the world fighting monsters. The music is a real mixed bag. Some of it is great, while other bits are techno, thrashy bullshit. Needless to say, my nipples are playing the game while my hands type this out.

I agree with you on the music, and I like the flight song but it gets old...
