So i am thinking about purchasing a DS game used from amazon.com. my question is, what can i do to ensure that the game i buy is the real thing, and not a knock off?

@hydralisk86: What game is it, does the seller offer refunds? Does it come with a case? With the refund system its hard to sell people fakes or broken games etc, Amazon and Ebay, dont play they have that buyer protection stuff. Also check their ratings and reviews.

I see. and what if i were to buy the game from gamestop? I am thinking about getting Final Fantasy IV for the DS, it is on sale for $20, used.
@hydralisk86: Gamestop is a pretty safe bet, they have good warranties on used games. I think its 7 days refund for any reason, including if you dont like the game. Then 30 days can exchange the game for an identical item.

I know that gamestop buys used games. how do i know they didn't buy a knockoff? i know i sound paranoid, but yeah just making sure.
@hydralisk86: You dont really, but that warranty is there to protect you. If your not sure, just make sure you have a warranty, that way when you get the game you can test it out real quick and check it.
Use this to help you some,

I have a fake game, i can take some pictures and try to show you, but its hard to tell when your buying. Nevermind, i dont have a fake one no more, i thought i still did.
A key and easy way to check for a fake cartridge is to look at the copper plates on the back, above the copper plates will have serial numbers, its way too hard to imitate this, so its the easiest way to know if its fake or not.
Check their refund policy from whoever you buy it from
Tiny Rick knows what's up.
Also, good choice with FFIV. the DS version is very difficult but it's a great game.

I am thinking about buying from Gamestop. but i don't know if there is a good way to tell 100%...i've read on a gamefaqs website with people discussing the topic. Someone said there is no real way to tell if a game is a knockoff. I've heard it was said some time ago that those knockoff games shouldn't work on a DSi. But that was made untrue, when newer knockoff games were made that could work on the DSi, as it seems people who make knockoff games must have, "upgraded." I even read somewhere that sometimes these games seem to work pretty well, but the quality of their memory is really bad, so later on, that is when the game seems to have problems saving (something like that)
The game with tax is around $21, so i am thinking about just buying the game and seeing what happens.
@hydralisk86: Easiest way is to check for these numbers above the copper contacts, its way too hard to fake this,
Sometimes even knockoffs work. I was trying to get Devil Survivor on ebay and I got the box and everything looked legit but when I got the cartridge I realized after playing the cartridge didn't feel right and it turns out it was a knockoff. It worked it was just a knockoff and I had to throw it away and get a new one.
I'm not encouraging you to get a knockoff but just wanted to point that out, be careful because even if it works it can still be a knockoff.
