(Race, Battle, Have Fun!)

About this thread: Instead of having 20 different MK7 communities/topics for the same thing, why not have one big thread and 1 or 2 MK7 communities that the whole GameSpot community can join and (possibly) enjoy? More players in one place means more active communities, which leads to more fun!

And feel free to exchange friend codes with others here if you own (or plan to get) Mario Kart 7. It'll make it easier to see whos online and if they're playing Mario Kart 7, so even If there isn't anyone in the GSF lobbies you could still join a GSF member until more members get on. Also feel free to talk about the game and matches you've had, whether they were good, bad, fantastic, crazy, stressful, exciting, etc etc... discussion is always welcome.

8:00 pm to 9:00 pm U.S eastern

5:00 pm to 6:00 pm U.S western

*Note: The times may be adjusted in the future based on 3DS Forum feedback, so tell me what you think.*

If you're not sure what time zone you live in, use this Time Zone Map:

How to use the Time Map:

Your current time is beside "World Cities" at the top of the map, move your mouse icon over the (US) east or west coast, then you'll be able to compare the time zones to where you live.

How to join a community:

Step #1. Go into Mario Kart 7's online option, after you do that you will see 3 options.

Step #2. Choose "Communities"

Step #3. After doing that there will be another list of options, choose "Search by Code". Then just type in the codes above.

The Wall of Kart Champions:

The Leaderboards for each Community automatically resets each month so everyone can have fun trying to be in the Top 3. And on the last 2 days of every month I'll edit this thread and post the Top 3 winners from the Community Leaderboards.

What are MK7 Communities about?

Is a community something you access in the game or something? Sorry, I don't know much about this stuff.

It's one of the new features that have been introduced in Mario Kart 7. You can create and join "Communities" which are like groups/clans/whatever you want to call it.

For example, there's a community set up currently for the Gamespot Wii/DS Boards Off-Topic Lounges. If you join the Community, you can race with other people who have also joined. In this case, you'd be racing against your fellow Gamespot members. Many other forums and gaming sites have set up their own Communities too.

It's basically an alternative to just racing with random people from around the world. This way, if you want to race with others from Gamespot, you can do so via the Communities.

To expand a bit on moltenix's great explanation.

The community feature allows players to create groups with other Mario Kart fans while setting up specific rules (speed cIass, items on/off, bob-oms only, etc) to make customized racing and battle environments. Community leaderboards will also show the most up-to-date information from recent races, each leaderboard resets every month which gives almost everyone a chance to make it onto the ranking list.

And if you choose, you could just throw your community code onto a forum for random people to join, or get a tournament going with friends by giving them your community code instead of having each person exchange 3DS codes with each other. In a sense this is somewhat like creating an open "clan" that the public can join that automatically gives a pre-chosen game type for everyone to play.

I joined the Racing Rally Community, but there doesn't seem to be anyone else joining.

My Mii's name is Jay from Canada BC and I have a 1 Star ranking.

Also, does this mean I'll always be able to join it now or will I have to re enter the code again next time I want to join?

Edit: Nevermind, I see the Community listed under Favorites now. I also joined Battle Royal and Clash 4 Cash.

And I had something like that happen to me, but it was in an online match. I slipped on a banana peel and got hit by a red shell on the last lap, which landed me in 4th place at the end after being in 1st for most of that race. :?

I'll join later today. And the more people we get, the better it will be. I belong to another sitewide community that has over 1,000 members, and day or night there is always someone on to play. So, the more people we get to join, the better this community will be. Spread the world ;)

I cant wait to play. Like I said Ill join tonight. To address what a poster above said, it would be nice to get 1,000 or so people in the community, however it may take a while to get that. I'll see how busy it is tonight, but we still might want to make certain times that people can look forward to having alot of users playing. It probably should be at the end of the work day, some kind of balance between Pacific (Me) and Eastcoast times. Sorry for the people that live outside the US, but the majority of GS users probably live in the US.

What does everyone think of the current times to get online? I'd like to find times that are good for almost everyone.

The times to get online seem fine to me. Our time zone's Mountain Time so I think it should be between 7-9 PM for us, so that works.

Oh and I have a two star rank now, got it last night :P

Thats awesome, Jay! How long did it take you to get 2 stars on every Cup? I've heard that the 150cc and Mirror Cups are hard to 3 star.

Green and Rock Lee those were some intense races. Green, did you lose your connection? Your kart was acting really weird for a while then you dropped at the end of the race. I swear one of my red shells followed you for a quarter of a lap without hitting you. And by follow I mean it was literally right on your tail but it just wouldn't hit you.TankZorz

Those were some crazy matches and you both raced great, and hopefully I'll get to race you both again without errors popping up.

Those times are not that good for me, but it's because I work the night. I could play every now and then though or anytime in the morning.ShuichiChamp24

Maybe we could come up with some secondary times, like around lunch time, so that people who work or go to school at night could have a meeting time too?
