I loved Devil Survivor and I will probably buy this to because of all the changes they made as well as the inclusion of an eighth day. Still though, I would much rather see some new rpgs.

There's Kingdom Hearts 3D. And a Final Fantasy that we no nothing about.
#5 Posted by forgot_it (6756 posts) -
  • Untitled Dragon Quest
  • Untitled Etrian Odyssey
  • Untitled Final Fantasy
  • Untitled Shin Megami Tensei
  • Untitled Shin Megami Tensei: Persona
  • Eternal Eden
  • Harvest Moon (If you think it's an RPG)
  • Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance
  • Megaman Legends 3 (More action than RPG)
  • Paper Mario
  • Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked
  • Super Robot Wars
  • Tales of the Abyss
#6 Posted by BrunoBRS (73366 posts) -
^ megaman legends 3 is more of a hybrid between zelda, metroid and 3rd person shooters. AND TALES OF THE ABYSS BETTER BE RELEASED HERE BECAUSE I REALLY WANT IT.

  • Paper Mario

forgot_it

Since when is...oh forget it.

#8 Posted by bionicle_lover (4501 posts) -

i might get tales of the abyss. I didnt like the original because all the characters annoyed the hell out of me and the ps2 loading times pissed me off so i never got far, but i dont mind trying it on a portable now that i dont have easy access to consoles.

I would buy Tales of the Abyss for 3DS. The rest will be lame. Where are the Western RPG's? JRPG's are way behind when it comes to rpg's.

*activates system wars mode* that's like, your opinion bro. i prefer JRPGs myself.

They are two different sub genres. Each with their own pluses and minuses. No genre is greater than the other. Quite frankly, I haven't seen WRPGs evolve past the shooting mechanic.

I'd be totally hyped for Devil Survivor Overclocked if there was a way to transfer your save data to it...

I'm hoping for a new 3DS Pokémon game in the future.

I wonder what it should be called. Pokémon Jade? Pokémon Lapis?

#14 Posted by pizzamanopenup (1350 posts) -

^Pokemon: Solid and Pokemon: Liquid. We'll see Pokemon: Solidus as a special edition down the line.

Jrpgs like Tales of games, Eternal Sonata and Final Fantasy are fun some of the time but the annoying voice acting and all the quirky crap that happens is just too much to put up with. Rpgs like Fable, Oblivion and Dragon Age are what I wanna see. Theres just that much more to them than Jrpgs.

maybe they do give you more freedom, but the story suffers really bad with it. and i enjoy the JRPG gameplay FAR MORE than the WRPG.

I didn't do any comparisons for the DS because all the DS has is jrpgs so its not exactly a fair fight.

I think the 3DS has the potential for some amazing RPGs.

I used to be the same way but after buying a 360 years ago I got into wrpgs because theres more of those than jrpgs on the 360. Out of all the rpgs i've played for the 360 I would say The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion(WRPG) is the best. Then comes Fable II(WRPG), then Tales of Vesperia(JRPG), Dragon Age(WRPG), Infinite Undiscovery(JRPG), some rpgs inbetween and then the worst rpg I have ever played in my life. Eternal Sonata(JRPG). I actually ended up playing it for over 80 hours to get all the achievements. It was the jrpg I got for the 360 and the story was crap, the characters were sobs, everything about it was homo but for some reason I played through it twice(which you have to do to get all the achievements). And the second time was a lot better I gotta say, but it was still crap.

well i had to force myself through fallout 3, despite enjoying it (after convincing myself to boot the game to go on with it). that's one serious issue there. and i have yet to play a bioware game that doesn't "meh" me.

I don't like Fallout or Bioware(most the time) games either.

I don't know about soon but some of the RPGs I'm looking forward to are

Time Travelers (Level 5)

Time Travelers

Fantasy Life (Level 5/Brownie Brown)

Fantasy Life

The top of the Fantasy Life image is what it was going to look like on the DS the Bottom is what is will look like on the 3DS.

#25 Posted by pandora_wizard (56 posts) -

What about Time Travelers, will it ever come out?

#26 Posted by inransha (25 posts) -
naw dude they will probably do a pokemon remake and it will be some like rage ruby and smooth sapphire or somthing
#27 Posted by emirblade (904 posts) -

I hope the 3DS has jrpgs and wrpgs both of them are fun in their own ways.

#28 Posted by sman3579 (21174 posts) -
There are going to be plenty of 3DS RPGs.
#29 Posted by stizz- (728 posts) -

It would be nice to see some wRPGs on 3DS (or on handhelds in general). Probably a super-large game like Mass Effect or Elder Scrolls, but maybe something like Torchlight.

Ah. Torchlight 3D. I just made myself drool.

#30 Posted by TheBlackKnight3 (1586 posts) -

Dragon Quest game is titled already, by the way. It is a sequel to RocketSlime IIRC. Not really an RPG. Three Final Fantasy games announced, one of them being Chocobo racing, another a Rythm game apparently, and the third is probably a remake of Final Fantasy V. A new Pokemon game was also announced, but it is a fighting game. Can't think of anything else we have decent information about. Looking forward to Tales and SMT though.

so little rpgs for the 3ds today or just only one. man, I shouldn't have bought a 3ds if it had such a worst line up. But anyways, It just take time for the 3ds to blossom. atleast, Im playing zenonia an rpg dsi ware

#32 Posted by mbrockway (3550 posts) -
Not one, none. Zelda isn't an rpg. Tales of the Abyss will be the first one looks like. Not sure if Paper Mario counts, never played it.
#33 Posted by ZIVX (2981 posts) -

I'm very interested in what types of JRPG's the 3DS will have, the potential is definitely there

#34 Posted by Haziqonfire (36344 posts) -

These are a few of the stand outs I'm looking forward to:

  • Tales of the Abyss
  • Paper Mario
  • Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked
  • Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance
  • Time Travelers
  • Fantasy Life
  • Slim Mori Mori Dragon Quest 3: The Great Pirate Ship and Tails Troupe (Rocket Slim 3)
  • Untilted Persona Game
  • THEATRHYTHM: Final Fantasy
  • Untitled Final Fantasy
  • Untilted Dragon Quest
#35 Posted by mbrockway (3550 posts) -

Time Travelers looks awesome. Maybe Level 5 will finally come back with a great rpg?

*Edit - Son of a *****, another dang non-US release game?! F*** Nintendo, f*** Japan devs. **** **** **** **** ****! *breathes* I am sick of this crap. Just watched the Layton vs. Ace Attorney trailer on youtube. Nintendo isn't gonna bring the good games over any more. Region free DS made it where they pretty much had to sell everywhere. With 3DS's region locking, they don't have to anymore. Had I seen this crap coming I never would have bought mine. Pitiful Nintendo, just pitiful.
