So I just bought a second-hand 3DS after my old original DS's screen snapped and I can't wait to start playing 3D games with it, having at present only used it for playing my old DS games.

I am looking for a cheap, starter game for it, around the £15 range. The sorts of games I am into for DS  and what I own in brackets are:

Puzzle games (Hotel Dusk, Broken Sword etc)

Shooters (GTA, Call of Duty, Brothers in Arms etc)

Drivers (Asphalt Urban GT, GRID, Burnout etc)

Platformers (Super Mario 64, Lego Indiana Jones etc)

I would also like a game that uses Wifi, again so I can see how well this feature works.

Any suggestions?

most 3DS games are pricey to buy new. The only good games you can buy with £15 are Super Street Fighter IV 3D and MGS Snake Eater 3d, which have been around for like 2 years, you can also get Pullblox and Fallblox from the e-shop, which are great puzzle games. You can find a lot of newer games used, some of my suggestions are: Super Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario Bros 2, Mario Kart 7, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3d, RE: Revelations, Professor Layton and The Miracle Mask, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Paper Mario and if you have played 999 definetely buy Virtue's Last Reward

I'm happy with Pre-owned games if it means not having to pay in excess of £25 for them.

How much is Super Mario 3D Land? Because there isn't a better game to show what 3DS is all about than that title. It also happens to be one of the best games on the platform.

MGS3 is a prequel, so it's a bit easier to understand compared to 2 and 4. But if you want to play MGS3 (and it's a damn good game so you should), do yourself a favour and get it on HD consoles with MGS collection. 3DS version flat out sucks.

I would recommend any Pokemon game, you should be able to find used copies for decent price. :)

It's still enjoyable, beaten it twice (w/o CPP  ) damn relaxing game. But I guess I can't really recommend the 3DS version when you can have the collection for the same price (if not cheaper).

Never been a big fan of the Pokemon games it's had to be said. I guess it was because I wasn't allowed to have a Gameboy or an N64 in 2000 when it was a big craze and everybody was playing Pokemon Red and Blue. I think it's too late for me now as i haven't been following Pokemon since 2003 or so.

You might not get some of the nods to the rest of the series, but being a prequel, you won't be lost.

Check in your local CEX, I work in a CEX and have bought most of my games in there due to the low prices, Zelda, Kid Icarus and Resident Evil Revelations are about £18 each SSFIV is about £10, as is Resident Evil Mercenaries and Ghost Recon Shadow Wars Madden 3D is only £4 There are pricier games, such as Mario Land 3D, Mario Kart 3D, NSMB2 and Professor Layton all go for around £28-£32

I know I love CeX. Unfortunately I live in Bangor and we don't have one or any other shop that specialises in secondhand games and entertainment. I'll check out their website though and see what they have. Crushed 3D for £6, Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars and Splinter Cell 3D both for £8. Are any of those worth me getting?

The only game cheap enough really is Super Street Fighter IV 3D.

Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars is a great game and it's cheap. I'd recommend it. Don't expect it to be a shooter though. It's a turned based strategy game. Very addicting.

Interesting. The reviews for it are very good and I haven't played a turn-based strategy game like that for a long time, so it might be a breath of fresh air. Thanks for the help everyone :)

The only reason I got it is because I got money toward a new game as a preorder bonus for the original 3DS and it was one of the few launch titles that seemed interesting to me. I actually didn't know it was a TBS game and was actually a little disappointed since I didn't think I liked the genre... but it turns out I really just needed to try another TBS because I thought it was really good and now I enjoy things like Fire Emblem and Advance Wars as well--though Shadow Wars is different than either of those.
