Do you have the 3D feature on and if so, how high? I just bought my 3DS and i'm still curious. One of my friends doesn't even use the 3D at all, and so far i've had mine up all the way. What about you?

Unless I am commuting or in a car, I always have it on.

I don't see the 3D effects as something major, but it is nice to have them anyway.

@Pierst179: Yeah, I think its a really nice touch. I know that the battery life is affected by this feature, but that doesn't bother me. Is there anything else about the 3D feature that may cause strain of any kind? Like, is it bad to have the 3D up all the way, because so far thats how i've been playing, and I just wanna know if thats bad for my 3DS in any way, other than battery life.

No. It's made to be used.

I always keep the slider all the way up. It adds something to every game I've played.

I never use it. Well, actually I usually turn it on if I see something I think'll look amazing in 3D, but otherwise I play in 2D, as I prefer having the clearer image.

I do a mix, usually using the 3D when I get a new game, but overall I don't use it a whole lot. Was still a gimmick.

Since I'm mostly playing Pokemon now, I rarely use 3D, but when I'm playing games like Mario 3D Land, Fire Emblem, and A Link Between Worlds, I turn the slider all the way up. The only time I don't have it at max is when playing Ocarina of Time 3D. For some reason that's the only 3DS game I've played that strains my eyes.

I use the 3D on full when I use it and I use it anytime I know I can play without having to move a lot. If I have to move a lot or I am laying down, I turn it off.

I'll turn it on with a new game, or if I'm in a new area in a game that I think might look good with it on I'll check it out. But I never leave it on for more than a minute. I just prefer to play without it.

I hardly ever use it. I turn it on every once it a while just to make sure it works, but it really doesn't add anything for me. The battery life is more important to me on my 3DSXL.

Depends on the game and setting. I usually have it off but if a game's 3D is particularly impressive I'll turn it on every once in a while.

I always use it. That said, sometimes I get the slider turned down accidentally and it will be hours before I notice.

Always on and always on max. There are few exceptions when I'm in a bus or somewhere else where it's hard to be still, or if I'm playing a game with bad 3D. Dead or Alive Dimensions doesn't have bad 3D, but in 3D it's 30 fps, and without 3D the game runs at 60 fps. In this case I take 60 fps rather than 3D.

Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 both have awesome 3D, by the way.

It is game dependent for me. It some instances it gives the games an otherworldly look. I really like the effect in Pilotwings. What I find curious is why more games don't utilize the effect to a greater extent. If you go to the trophy room in Pilotwings, some of the trophies really show off the potential of how 3d the effect can be--a few in particular have an unbelievable amount of "pop" to the image.

I have a lazy eye. Had it since I was... 12 or 13, I suppose. I can focus my eyes for a time, but more often than not, I end up reverting to my natural state as soon as I stop actively focusing on it. Thus, using the 3D at max gives me something I can easily focus on and helps to train my eyes to point in the same direction- sometimes for hours at a time. In that sense, the 3D is more than just a "gimmick"- it's actually therapeutic.

So suck it, naysayers!

At first (I got it at launch), no not really. But after a while, some games used the 3D really well and made it look really good. Examples include:

Luigi's Mansion

Super Mario 3D World

Mario Kart 7

Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

Especially Zelda.

I specifically don't use 3D when travelling or late at night (my eyes are too tired at that point).

Honestly, I almost never use it. It messes with my eyes too much.
