My cousin has Mario Kart DS and when it is inserted into the DS it does not play. The DS doesn't recognize that it is inserted.

It says, " No game card inserted "

Does anyboby have any suggestions of what i should do?

Any one have similiar problems?

You sure it is a legit card? Breathe onto it otherwise. Make sure the DS is fully charged.

Call Nintendo if you recently purchased it new. If you recently purchased it used return it to the the store where you purchased it at.

I'm going out on a limb and saying maybe try cleaning the contacts with a small eraser. Most of the time the problem you are describing is because the contacts in the DS have worn down from use, but in this case it is most definatly the game at which point maybe it just needs to be cleaned (ie how people get pc memory to work when it's not making good contact), an eraser.

Haven't tried this myself as this is first time I've heard of the problem with a ds game, but it just might work.

Interesting i think it might be from clicking it in and out of the DS after like a year or so. I might tell him to do the eraser thing, thanks rgsniper1.

Don't use an eraser. Does no one remember the cheap way of cleaning NES/SNES carts by using a wet q-tip with a certain substance rubbing alchol or was it hydrogen perioxide?

I have the same problem with my trauma center and whenever that happens i pull out the game, shake the cartidge lightly (key word) blow a little bit into the ds slot, turn on the ds (without the game) turn it back off, push in the game and turn it back on and it usually works. However, I think of that as more of a ritual rather than a real way of fixing it (kinda like how i turn on the NES with my old copy of joust its hilarious but it always works)

i've got the same problem! it just won't fix though. first it started small hwere a quick re-insert would fix it. but now it takes 50 tries or more to get it working. if at all. i gave up after that.

It might be occurring because the game has been taken out or the system turned off while the game was running. Just a suggestion.

NO!! Not the eraser thing... OMG whats with people thinking an eraser is going to clean electrical contacts. If anything it will damage them further. Best method to clean electrical contacts is with rubbing alcohol. Use a lint free cloth or a q-tip. Wait a good 5-10 minutes to let the alcohol evaporate before sticking it in your DS.

Because it's still an issue, i bought pokemon platinum off of ebay the other day and it's doing this. When someone says an alcohol based solution would methylated spirits fit under this category? i don't want to screw up the game card seeing as i spent $40 on it.

Ok so I just got a new game for my Ds and when I tried to play it, it didn't start up. I looked inside the game slot and I saw this blue stuff crusted onto the reading thing. I was wondering if I could use the rubbing alcohol with the q-tip on the inside, or would that just mess up the DS even more?

It could be that the copy you bought was a knockoff.

The same company that made the UMD Replacement cases, Multimedia Recovery, has a solution for this out now. It's a DS Replacement Game Case. You can take apart your old game clean the contacts off and re-case it in a cool new case! Here's a link on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-DS-Replacement-Video-Cases-Repair/dp/B0048G3HTS/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1289325097&sr=8-16 . You should see it on the website and eBay soon as well. www.umdcase.com

Don't breathe or blow! You'll get microparticles of your saliva on it! Suck on it or blow compressed air into the cartridge instead! Really. I'm serious. After, turn on your DS, run pictochat or something for a bit. Shut it off. Pop the cartridge in slowly and apply slow, steady pressure until it clicks. Make sure it is FLUSH with the slot. Rub your finger back and forth a couple of times to make sure it is flush and nicely in there. Turn it on.

MOD NOTE - Please do not bump old threads.
