Earthbound Beginnings coming to Wii U VC

Stated live right before the live feed of Nintendo World Championships, it is announced the earthbound title for the original Famicon, which never released in North America, is available on the Wii U vc

TODAY.

Nintendo is king. Nintendo won E3.

This is quite a surprise announcement. And this is before the Digital Event on Tuesday.

I'm glad people who wanted it will have a chance to play it, but man, it doesn't look like much fun. I gave Earthbound a chance, but the gameplay kept me from finishing it, even though I liked the atmosphere and humor. The NES game looks even worse on the gameplay front.

I assume people have begged for Mother 3 for so long because it actually improves on the gameplay? I would hope so.

If you don't know much about the series, maybe look into it before getting caught up in the hype and buying this game.

I am ready for it. So happy they are bring it out to Wii U.

So disappointed. I was excited when the rumors of "Earthbound Forever" came out, claiming that we'd get a HD remastered collection of the Mother Trilogy, but to be honest, I'm really not interested in playing a 25 year old NES game.

So is this game considered "Mother 1"?

I never followed Earthbound all that closely. I got the game a few months ago but barely had time to touch it.

So is it safe to say that the elusive Mother 3 will get announced at the digital event tomorrow?

For fans of the series, I hope so. I'm sure the hype will make me want to finally really dig into Earthbound.

I'm thinking that Mother 3 will happen now. Either way that is awesome news for Earthbound fans.

I bought it, Earthbound is one of my favourite games of all time so this should be enjoyable.

Odd that it isn't on 3DS too, though.

@wiifan001: No pressure... but I bet the possibility of Mother 3 being released to the West depends on the sales of Earthbound Beginnings. But no pressure.

Buy a bad looking game in the hopes of maybe getting a better looking game? No thanks. That's a 100% waste of money. Nintendo will localize Mother 3 if they did the first one. They know what the fans actually want.

On a serious note, I have to wonder why you even bought a Wii U if your sole purchasing decision is based on graphics.

lol, I considered rephrasing my post but thought better of it. By "bad looking" I meant it looks like a bad game, not that the graphics are bad. Earthbound's gameplay is pretty terrible, and that's probably a step up from the original game. I like the style of the game, but actually playing it is a huge chore.
