Such as in xbox, if you plug in a media device, you can listen to the music while playing games.

I wouldn't say desperate but it would definitely be a nice feature to have, especially with their support for most external memory, you could just stick some tracks on a USB stick and job done. Considering how bare bones the Wii's feature set was though I'd rather Nintendo get the major stuff right before the secondary things like this.No and it desperately needs one.
Especially for things like racing games

No thanks, keep with the basics please, it's supposed to be a game console, not a multimedia device.

I don't understand why you want Nintendo to fail
Also why are you even interested in the Wii U if you don't like what it does?
I generally like Nintendo, and I like many of Nintendo's games, that's why I'll get a Wii U.[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]

being a central component to your complete entertainment system means some computer -> entertainment streaming is desirable for most people. No thanks, keep with the basics please, it's supposed to be a game console, not a multimedia device.

I already have a stereo, dvd/db player, htpc and more, I don't need Nintendo to waste time on something I (and pretty much everyone else) already have.yellonet

HTPC.You think everyone has a dedicated PC that they only use in their entertainment center?

Yes. You mean they don't? :shock:Doesn't need it at all, though it would be nice. I'd love it if it could do Windows Media Center. And to be fair yes it does have a music player, unlimited songs through YouTube for free! lol.No and it desperately needs one.

1. Accept my friend invite on the Miiverse
2. Make your profile public, no one is going to hurt you.
3. I find it troublesome you have no problem with any game soundtrack
4. The Wii U cannot run a game and YouTube at the same time
i sent a pm to mariokart64fan asking for his nintendo id but he just ignored me....never answers or replies to me in the forums...at least you answer me sometimes jasonguy...lol which is sad because i really like his posts :P

I love the Wii U but come on...the Nintendo apologists are ridiculous even the original Playstation had music playback with it's own visualizer! come on!
I'm on the gamepad typing this because I just Googled to see if I could load music onto the Wii U or at least stream it somehow, or playback via attached HDD...nope? it's pathetic. Wii U does Netflix, Amazon Instant Video etc, yet I cannot listen to music? it's dumb.
The logic is just the oposite of typical Nintendo apologists, nobody wants to have to turn off the Wii U just to swap devices because a perfectly capable device like the Wii U/gamepad isn't allowed by Nintendo's archaic business model, and what's more stupid is that they don't make portable music players like iPods so there would be no conflicting product lines to factor into their business model.
I doubt I'd ever use it. Just like the 3DS music player. It's nice that it's there, but hardly something I'd miss if it weren't there.
In saying that though, the Wii U does have a good browser. And Youtube works really well on it, so if you want to play music (outside of games), just go to youtube. But unfortunately nothing for ingame stuff.

Hey I added you jerks. Don't you be talkin bout me o.O lol
I found it weird that they don't have any form of media playback for WiiU, but the Wii had the Photo Viewer channel thing.
Not only could you have viewed your photos, but you could add in your own music and even watch full length movies given if saved it to the correct format. Why that isn't on the WiiU is a complete mystery.
wiiu has youtube and thats all the music youll need and pandora as some one else said so why you need a music player if these already exist , lmao and you can listen to every song for free!
the closest you can do is keep a private youtube channel or something similar, upload all your music via video captures with audio, but some of the applications like Garage band will detect digital copyright and it will get recognized anyway. I gotten away with uploading via Mac screen capture video but ran my output right back into the input and channeled it to various application to capture sound, pretty high quality. If you keep it private sometime Youtube won't pull the copyright stuff on you and you can keep the fairly high quality audio up for your own music listening pleasure. It's a pain in the ass to have to resort to such time consuming measure though.
