I have Yoshi's Island on my 3DS! It is an ambassador title though and for right now, if you don't have it yet, you can't get it. Check out Yoshi's Island DS if you need some Yoshi on your 3DS. It's not as good but it's still pretty good. And let's hope for an all-new sequel.

The GBA version of Yoshi's Island was one of the ambassador titles, so it will likely be one of the first games released when they put GBA games on the eShop.
I have to say that having played NSMB2, the 3DS needs as many 2D platformers as possible. For a portable system they are just so perfect. 3D rendered games like Kid Icarus are harder to make sense of while I'm out in the world where lighting conditions, etc are not consistent.
edit: so yeah, on topic, a yoshi's island type of game would be great
