Yes, the 3DS will be able to play the normal DS games. Which is a good thing; I have some games that I really enjoy. But I still don't think I'll be getting a 3DS. BTW, in my book, there is no such thing as a stupid question ;)
yes it will. But no reports have been made on whether or DS games can be displayed in 3D. The DS games would obviously need to be redone (so not likely). DS games will play and look the way they do on the DS.

Oh, there is a HUGE lineup of launch games for it. Even a MGS game. Now, I may hop onto the 3DS bandwagon and buy one becasue I'be lawyas wanted to play a MGS title.

Yeah i was considering buying one till i heard about the 3DS rumor so i decided to wait, hopefully its not gonna cost too much.
Yep, the DS will be fully backwards compatible, the 3DS uses similar cartridges but the capacity has been increased obviously, to 2GB I think for devs. When playing the DS games you won't be able to view them in 3D, cos the games have to be developed in 3D.
I got the dsi xl yesterday and i like it but im wondering should i return it and wait for the 3ds or should i keep it and see if another ds comes out that is better or trade it in when the 3ds is a lower price?

That's great because I have regular DS games that I love,and I have DSiWare games that I enjoy playing(Shantae).I had wondered if you would be able to transfer DSiWare titles to the 3DS,and now I know.I'm thinking about a 3DS because of the game Nintendogs and cats...that game looks so cute :)
trade your dsi xl in the 3ds is much better but at a high price but should'nt a ds be pocket size? since dsi xl came out it is more like a sega genisis in your pocket
because noobs seem to have this special ability to find old ass threads from months and even years ago and bring them back. Gamespot needs a filter that deletes threads that are over a month old if noone has posted in them.
