SSBB Review Discussion

With review scores popping up all over the place, it'd be nice to have a place to talk about them. So here it is. Now we can break loose from the shackles of the ginormous SSBB thread and talk specifically about the review scores. Please keep all general SSBB talk in the other thread.

As always, this will be the only thread about SSBB reviews allowed, so don't go making new threads about them. :evil:

Here are some of the more important scores. When more big reviews pop up, I'll add them to the list for easy reference.

Gamespot: 9.5/10
IGN: 9.5/10
Nintendo Power: 10/10
Gamepro: 5/5
Gametap: 9/10
GamesRadar: 10/10
1up - A
Gamespy - 4.5/5
Gametrailers - 9.4/10

Some things to think about:

We all know about the things SSBB does well, so what are these reviewers' gripes? Do you think they're justified? Do you think they even matter?

Do you think this will be the highest rated game of all time? Or will it be one of the biggest disappointments because it won't be the highest rated game of all time?

EDIT: it wont get a ten cause sequel titles SHOULDNT get tens! a 10 is like a bioshock game, i whole new idea and concept. in my perspective...

and I do not particular care about numbers.. so I can not actually say much about the reviews (pry reason why all the review thread were starting to be annoying.. :P )

Anyway.. Congrats on N .. i guess :D:D

It will probably end up like SMG and get 2nd best of all time after being first for a while. I highly doubt GS will give it a 10, but I couldn't imagine them giving it a 9 or lower. All of the GotY candidates from last year ended up with a 9.5 and I really don't think they're going to say "Yeah, SSBB was better than all of those." I've heard a few minor complaints from other sites, not much, but enough to knock it down .5 points. That and the fact that it's a Wii game so the graphics won't be as good as the 360, PS3 or PC.

I'm willing to bet it'll be a 9.5

It probably wont get a 10 because it's a part of a series and it would be alittle repetitive. I think the complaints are what you'd expect some chars are too similar. Also yes i agree that they should have added more third party chars. I believe SSBB will get between an 8.8-9.5 from gamespot but not any higher.

All the hype this game has been given by the general public will not be justified if it is anything underneath a 9.0, or a 9.5 in my eyes.

He couldn't have added any more, SEGA and Konami were the only companies that came to him.

I'm predicting 9.0 from GS.

Did you guys see the On the Spot crew playing SSBB a few weeks ago? They seemed to have a lot of fun playing, although it was obvious that some of them weren't pros. ;) Fun games usually get a strong endorsement from GS, even if they don't always score the highest, due to whatever faults the games have.

Based on that segment and the snippets I've seen from current reviews, I'd say GS will give it an 8.0 at least, but with a suggestion to buy the game if you want some mindless multiplayer fun.

I honestly don't know what to think of gamespot in ratings. One minute they talk bad about a game that should of gotten at-least a 9.0 Then they give games like no more heroes a 9.0 when ign and game trailers gave it around 8.5. It really depends on if GameSpot because they like to review games while PMS'n.

Yeah but i'd be lying if I said ratings didn't play a part in me purchasing some games. There are games like Brawl that I'll buy no matter what the rating is, but other games that I'm not sure of I'll let ratings influence my decision.
