I'm in for Xenoblade if they bring it to the States. And I'll probably trade in my original 3DS to put toward the new model. Might as well. Just take my damn money Nintendo.
which one are you getting big screen or native? maybe the new cpu and improved screens will make the large one much better?
The Xenoblade exclusivity to the new 3DS annoys me. Now, I'm fine with redesigns. They're optional and can still play the same cart software. However, when new parts are put into them that guarantee some games won't run on earlier models that droves of people already went out and purchased, that's different. This is an unnecessary barrier that divides content among a product line. Nintendo might as well have announced an all new handheld. If the two products come to the states, I won't be buying.
I do like that Shulk was confirmed for Smash. Was that a soundtrack I saw in the video? Maybe it'll be a preorder bonus or something.
What I could gather about the New 3DS and New 3DS LL (XL) from the Direct:
- Second analog stick built in (small, just above, left of the 4 facing buttons)
- 3D viewing angle from side on works (instead of getting blurry when in 3D mode)
- Increased power for processor (e.g download times will be shortened, presumably general OS navigation will be sped up). Looks like Xenoblade will be exclusive to the New 3DS range? Presumably because of the more advanced processor.
- NFC built in (can read Amiibo without buying additional device, like the Wii U gamepad)
- Added extra shoulder buttons: ZR,ZL
- Game card slot at the bottom of the device (presumably to make room for ZR,ZL on top)
- Power button and stylus moved to bottom of the device too
- Screen quality has been increased. Looks like it adjusts to surrounding lighting environment? (e.g day/night)
- Micro SD card support (along with SD as in the original)
- Some kind of easy sharing through a wireless router from your New 3DS (and LL) to your PC with images, pictures, etc.
- Releasing 10/11/2014 (or 11/10/2014) in Japan
- Will use a standing cradle for charging, with the New 3DS (and LL) standing on the side.
New 3DS and New 3DS LL differences in additions:
- New 3DS four face buttons come in SNES colour scheme (green, red, blue, yellow)
- New 3DS LL four face buttons come in similar colour as the outter casing, but the ABXY letter colours match the SNES button colours
- New 3DS comes in white or black (seems like matte finish)
- New 3DS LL comes in blue or black (seems like matte finish)
- New 3DS top screen will be 3.88 inches (previously 3.53), bottom screen is 3.33 inches (previously 3.02)
- New 3DS LL has same size screens as original 3DS XL
- New 3DS is slightly bigger than original 3DS, is slightly thicker when shut, and weighs slightly more
- New 3DS LL is slightly bigger than original 3DS XL but slimmer when shut, and weighs slightly less
- New 3DS batter life: 3.5 - 6 (was 3 - 5) hours
- New 3DS LL battery life: 3.5 - 7 (was 3.5 - 6.5) hours
- New 3DS: 16,000 yen
- New 3DS LL: 18,000 yen
- New 3DS can interchange the back and front plates for different aesthetic designs which you can buy separately for 1000 yen.
- New 3DS LL can't do this. There is a special edition MH4 LL and Red Smash Bros. design coming anyway.
I've needed a new 3DS for over a year (broken R button, scratched screen), but I've been waiting for a new hardware design. Now I can finally upgrade, and I don't need to buy a gigantic handheld. This is perfect.
HOLY CRAP IM EXCITED
I'm definitely buying Xenoblade again and this is the perfect opportunity to finally upgrade my launch 3DS. I sure hope new games take advantage of the new buttons!!
I'll wait to upgrade my 3Ds later...When new limeted editions come out.
Looks really cool though. Reminds me a little of the DSi upgrades.
I am skeptical about how small the second analog is, but still very happy to have that built in.
Completely happy about better viewing angle for 3d.
Better CPU hopefully means better loading times and overall snappier OS management. Xenoblad Chronicles is taking advantage of the better hardware. I hope more games utilize in a way that is backward compatible with older 3DS as to not alienate millions of people.
Anyone one else have dreams where theres a 3DS revision that allows for streaming to the television through price effective standalone hardware or through your Wii U?
