very interesting. big difference in closing games.
Are you kidding me? The NEW 3DS loads MUCH faster! And it seems like the game runs smoother too. That's impressive. Looks like it may be worth upgrading...
I like the thickness of the original 3DS better. The later ones are too thin. They'll break easier.
Is the new 3DS also getting more ram?
i noticed with smash bros demo that every time i closed the game the 3DS had to restart (which also happened in the vid). this would indicate that the OS part of ram that was previously off limits on the 3DS has been made accessible. the OS has to restart to reload whatever was unloaded.
its something i have been noticing on my 3DS....with newer firmware it seems to be slowing down a bit. shutting down games takes longer (though it only restarts for the smash bros demo). the games themselves still run fine of course but the OS seems to be taking up more and more resources.
its certainly a nice speed bump to have though in the new 3DS.
@osan0: How did you miss this months ago? The New 3DS has an extra 128MB RAM and 4MB VRAM, totaling at 256 RAM and 10MB VRAM, with rumored to be double the CPU speed. So potentially the 3DS vs New 3DS is this: Dual-Core 266Mhz CPU, 128MB RAM, 6MB VRAM vs Dual-Core 532Mhz CPU, 256MB RAM, and 10MB VRAM
Glad to see the New 3DS is living up to its expectations. I look forward to seeing more enhancements (perhaps a comparison in terms of internet browser) as well as enhancements for future games (e.g. Codename STEAM).
The New 3DS looks more appealing everyday. Starting up Smash Bros tends to make me anxious because looking at black screens for 22 seconds is unnaturally long for games nowadays. I either wonder if my game is loading or my 3DS crashed during the wait. The extra RAM and CPU will be greatly appreciated.

I'm glad it wasn't my imagination. I also noticed longer loading speeds after the theme update, which is understandable but somewhat annoying.
@bonesawisready5: ooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo....thanks for the info.
do you have a source? id like to find out more. last i heard it was just a CPU upgrade.
itll be interesting to see how xenoblade runs on it. it was one of the most demanding games on the wii. itll be interesting to see if the new CPU can keep pace with the wii CPU.
@osan0: The RAM/VRAM increase was leaked through the 3DS's newest firmware http://www.craveonline.com/gaming/articles/751367-new-3ds-hardware-revision-double-ram-increase-vram
Even if the 3DS's CPU was as fast as the Wii's, I doubt it would keep pace
Just a note, the normal 3ds does not have enough ram for smash bros and has to clear the os before it can load the game. This takes a long time.
The rest of the 3ds games do not do that.
