Mario Kart 8 DLC Pack 1 - Not working for me?

I downloaded it, it said it installed it, yet it's not there? Characters and Cups are still just floating boxes saying wait till it's released....wtf?

Edit: Nevermind I apparently didn't have the Amiibo update?

Are you saying we have to download some kind of amiibo update to make the DLC work?

The game itself has an update that needs to be installed (which adds Amiibo support), then you get a prompt within the game to download the DLC.

Not just Amiibo, the update also make it so players, even those without the DLC, can see others playing Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach and Link. I believe it also adds some other stuff too, though i'm not sure exactly what those are.
