Hey all. I used to have a Nintendo 3DS XL but ended up selling it to help finance my PS4. When I had it I ended up playing a lot of fire emblem, and a few other games but until now nothing has caught my interest as potentially being good enough to warrant buying another 3DS or 2DS until I heard about Bravely Default. I am a fan of old school JRPGs and I feel like this could be a good fit, but I don't know if it's good enough to warrant dropping another $200-$300.

What are your thoughts?

Yes. It's the best traditional JRPG I think I've ever played, in terms of pure mechanics. The structure seems good so far, too. I doubt the story will be in the top of its genre, because that's almost impossible at this point, but I'm only about 10 hours into it, so I don't know.

It also uses the 3D effect really well. The environments look good in 2D but fantastic in 3D. And the music is superb. It has everything you love about a JRPG.

Hmm, thanks. I was leaning towards the 2DS just due to price, but if it is that much better with 3D, then maybe I'll suck it up and get the 3DS.

It's a return to form for old-school, turn-based combat, so you'd love it for that reason. The story (so far, considering I'm less than 10 hours in) is neither exceptionally great nor bad, but the world kind of makes up for it. The environments are beautiful.

I'd buy it. The 3DS is a safe investment at this point.

Bravely Default is just one of the dozens of titles that are worth getting a 3DS for. Get one and enjoy the wonderful Bravely Default.
