If Nintendo made it, it would be more of a re-issue than a repro, no?
Regardless, if it was the exact same hardware, I'd say no. If they made some adjustments, like a back light and maybe a better speaker, I'd say yes. They'd have to re-issue games as well, unless they expect people to make a mad dash for Ebay and flea markets.
New Gameboy color with a backlight for around $50. Yeah, I would bite. Be nice if it had something else like built-in roms, wireless multiplayer, rechargable battery etc but really just the backlight would be enough, everything else would be icing on the cake.
Why would I do that? A good amount of the library is already available for 3DS and it'll only grow. That, and I still have a working GBASP, so... I have no need for a GBC. That being said, I do want to play more of its library. I've only really played Zelda, dragon Warrior and Pokemon on the Color. Might go on a 3DS shopping spree at some point and pick up some old platformers or something.
I still have my Gameboy color, Along with a Black Gameboy SP and the original Gameboy.
So yep If Nintendo were to release a reproduction I would buy it.
Not going to happen. Even if it did, I would not. To me, that's what the 3DS VC is for.
Otherwise, just buy the GBA SP. It has a backlight, rechargeable battery, and it's BC with GB and GBC.
Lets say for arguments sake it plays games from gameboy adavaced and preveious, plus maybe a new versin of the 1st and 2nd generation carterage.
And lets say for Smashbrossive50 that the new model comes with a light.
I'd rather keep saying no even though it has lighting applied,so yeah Virtual Console in a 3DS will work fine
Wow I thought maybe a n00b bumped an old thread.........but this is seriously only a day old?! Hey OP Nintendo made this system called the Game Boy Advance SP. It plays every single GB game and even has a light! What would be the point of a reproduction GBC????
@JuanGrande386: That's pretty much what I'm thinking. There's something to be said for saving your old systems, but me and most other poeple aren't going to buy something like the GBC when there are far more frugal and flexible options like the GBASP.
It's like this: If I had a GBC as a kid, I would still have it assuming nothing bad happened to it. But I didn't, so there's no way in hell I'd spend money on one when I have a working GBASP and the 3DS is getting GBC games on the virtual console.
I would love it if Nintendo revived the Game Boy. I love my 3DS and everything, but sometimes I just like the idea of going back to simple, single-screen gaming. It's likely to never happen, as the DS and 3DS have been such massive successes, but I can dream.
